Great day with these fine folks yesterday. Harvest activity everywhere. Love this time of year. And stellar w**es and hospitality all the way along with our friends Rosehall Run Vineyards Morandin W**es Grange of Prince Edward W**ery and Stanners Vineyard **e **es **etour

A few things struck opening this w**e tonight. First off it’s not just good, it’s stunning. Made even more so knowing that 2021 was an off vintage in Ontario. Small batch, artisanal, low intervention w**emaking. No filtering. But it’s not just about this one w**e. I could line up dozens of w**es from across the country now that fit the same profile. Niagara, BC, Nova Scotia, and in my own backyard in PEC. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Syrah, Merlot, Traditional Method Sparkling, Rose. Every bit as good as their points of origin in France. So at $45, this w**e isn’t a $15-20 front shelf LCBO w**e. Nor should it ever be. This is a w**e to sip and savour. As are so many others in this country now. If you aren’t drinking 🇨🇦 w**es now, or still think Canadian w**e is your mom’s Baby Duck, then it is truly your loss.

Besties from Chicago and Tampa rolled the dice and chose PEC after some research for their long weekend escape. And their reaction? What a find. Great food. Wonderful shops and artisans. Beautiful quaint towns and landscapes. And the w**e! They’ve visited w**e regions all over the US including California. They validated that County w**es, hospitality and friendliness are absolutely first class. Kudos to Stanners Vineyard Grange of Prince Edward W**ery and Trail Estate W**ery for making it a great day! **e **etour

It’s Pinot Noir day. Someone told me early on in my exploration of w**e that when you come to truly appreciate Pinot Noir, you have arrived at the point of starting to understand w**e. At the time I had no idea of what he meant, but now I do. I’m not sure I know of any grape that better expresses where it’s from, or the skill of the team that grew the grapes, and the person that made the w**e from it. It’s the problem child that truly rewards when the stars align. And we live in a country where this grape is in its element. Whether it is the Okanagan, Vancouver Island, Niagara, or here in Prince Edward County. There is spectacular Pinot Noir from across the country. Savour something Canadian today.
