These two love muffins are bonded and looking for their forever family. Stan is a barrow, and is the sweetest and most loving pig ever; give him belly rubs and he is putty in your hands. Oreo is a boarling, and is silly and full of s***k; he loves to play “find the carrot/apple” but is also happy to settle down for some snuggles after playtime. As you can see they are the best of friends so are looking for a home where they can be treasured and be their best selves TOGETHER.

Drop me a line if you think you might be “the one” for them.

Yesterday was “weigh-day” here on the farm. Zelda is our second biggest pig, now weighing in at 337lbs which in Kunekune terms qualifies her as hella-humongous!

For all my piglet people and general piggy parents out there; it’s a HOT one. Keep the bowls, pools, and wallows full and wet. Pigs don’t handle the heat well; keep them safe.

Got more squash than you can deal with?

Any edible squash at all from acorn to zucchini and everything in between (including hubbard or pumpkin or spaghetti or or or) we would be thrilled to take them off your hands. Come for a visit and drop them off yourself, bring a picnic basket and have lunch with the piglets (be prepared to give up most of what you bring though, they love food), or I’d be more than happy to pick it up from you the next time I’m in Quesnel, Prince George, or Hixon. My garden isn’t big enough yet to meet the demand here on the farm and squash is a huge help through the Winter months.

Feel free to share this post with anyone who has more than they can deal with. The piggies and I appreciate it and you; thank you!

I’m feeling like a bad mom today - totally across species lines. It was time to kick the wee chickens into the big chicken house and they are stressed AND it was time to separate the six month old piglets into baby boars and gilts and they don’t understand… and it all has me feeling like a horrible person because I can’t make it better and it’s all my fault that they aren’t happy. So I turned to our grand old dame here on the farm for a pep talk.
Thanks Holly, I love you!

Nothing like a moment of self care before life gets busy. For some of us that looks like a muddy butt scratch before heading out for dinner with the rest of the girls.

Went to visit the city, and while there had a chance to go for a walk with the kid. We found these two yahoos and had to stop and take a quick video.

We are looking for a homestead helper (19+ only) or two and are in the Cariboo regional district of BC.

We are offgrid here with limited cell-reception. We run on solar, use a pit-toilet, and have numerous infrastructure upgrades planned for the next year or two. We have been on this property for five years now so aren’t new to this. Someone who is mechanically-savvy would be amazing as would someone with abattoir or welding skills. We are happy to share what we know if you are willing to share what you know. Let’s learn together!

I am a biologist and educator, my partner is a comms-expert and solar consultant. We each have one extended family member in the nearby city (where there is a Costco - yay). Other important things to note in determining if we would fit well; we aren’t religious, but we are respectful. Between ourselves and our closest family members we are: Buddhist, Pagan, atheist, and agnostic. One of us is progressive, one is old-school, we both do what we can to support the other even if we don’t always agree on how things should be accomplished.

There is a room in the main house and possibly one in the cottage. There is also an old travel trailer up “renegade road” that could be fixed up if you are handy. That said, if you have a tiny home on wheels or a travel trailer or motorhome that opens a lot more possibilities. There are 160 acres here so I’m sure we could find you a corner where you could feel at home and have your own project space or yard so you feel at home… long term or short term stays are up for discussion.

Follow me to get a feel for what life is like here At Road's End, and then drop me a line if you want to chat.

- Given the implications for some individuals living in the US right now we would be happy to look at what programs might be available to help someone who needs to escape threats of persecution. Please know you can reach out. We need help here, and if we can help you in that process by giving you a safe place to land? We would be happy to support you through whatever governmental steps are required.

Good morning! …and enjoy my fail. 😆 I tried to get all the juvenile Icelandic Chickens coming out of their little coop. They had other ideas.
