People often think making your own wine is just about ending up with 30 bottles.

But sometimes it's really about spending an afternoon together.

Last week, an 87th birthday gift brought three friends and family members into the shop to bottle their very first batch of wine made at our shop.

There was plenty of laughter, lots of stories, and by the end of the afternoon, they had more than just bottles to take home.

They had a memory they created together.

That's one of my favourite parts of what I get to do.

What an incredible evening!

A huge thank you to the members of the Houston & District Chamber of Commerce who joined us as Guest Judges for our inaugural Valley Vintages Customer Wine Competition last Thursday evening!

Our judges sampled 10 unique wines crafted by local winemakers, enjoyed an evening of friendly competition, and helped crown this year's champion.

Congratulations to Jen Hill, whose Limited Edition 2024 Fourtitude, a blend of Merlot, Mataro, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, was awarded Best Overall Wine.

A sincere thank you to all of our entrants for sharing the wines they have worked so hard to create. Every bottle reflected the passion, creativity and dedication of our local winemaking community.

This year's event was an exclusive evening for members of the Houston & District Chamber of Commerce, but we are excited to announce that future Valley Vintages wine competitions will be open to the public.

Some love stories begin with a swipe.

Others begin in high school.

Kathryn and Braedy have been together since they were just 15 years old, and in just a few weeks, they'll be saying "I do" in beautiful Telkwa.

Yesterday, they stopped by Valley Vintages to bottle the wine they'll be sharing with family and friends on their wedding day. Together, we created custom labels just for them and bottled a Pinot Grigio and a Blush that will become part of one of the biggest celebrations of their lives.

It's moments like these that remind me this business is about so much more than making wine. It's about helping create memories that will be shared around a table, raised in a toast, and remembered for years to come.

Congratulations, Kathryn and Braedy! Thank you for letting me be a small part of your August 8 celebration. Wishing you a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and countless reasons to raise a glass together.
