As many of the wildfires across Northwestern Ontario have slowed and some farms and families begin returning to normalcy, we recognize that the effects of these evacuations are far from over.
The emergency response placed a significant financial and operational burden on displaced animal owners, farms, private facilities, volunteers and organizations that stepped forward to transport, shelter and care for evacuated animals.

The Framework explains how applications will be reviewed, what expenses may qualify, reimbursement requirements, funding priorities and the controls established to ensure that donated funds are distributed fairly, responsibly and transparently. Eligible categories may include emergency animal transportation, feed, hay, bedding, temporary shelter, veterinary care, biosecurity supplies, essential equipment, cleaning and site recovery, and other necessary evacuation-related animal-care expenses.
