The Bus from Guadalajara Artist in Residence Project is a small, peer-to-peer, not-for-profit, biennial residency open to professional and emerging visual artists, writers, musicians and performance artists who wish to pursue a creative project or research in Mexico for one month. The residency is located in a spacious, four-bedroom house just outside of Ajijic, a small fishing village forty-five

minutes from Guadalajara on Lake Chapala. During their stay, artists may use the dining room, living room, garage and garden as studio space, explore Guadalajara and other nearby villages, and hike in the mountains. Occasionally, exhibitions can be arranged at the Centro Cultural de Ajijic. Participants take turns cooking dinner for one another and share the house maintenance costs. Partners and children are welcome. Past residents: Holly Tingley (2010, Montreal), Gary Pearson (with Dagmar Pearson, 2010 and 2015, Kelowna, BC), Sheena Gibson, Heather Leier and Emily Geen (2012, Kelowna), Molly McChesney (2012, Calgary), Guillaume Vallée (2012, Montreal, QC), Marcy Chevali (2014, New York), Clare Samuel (2014, Toronto), Scott Bertram (with Nicole and Lena Bertram, 2014, Courtenay, BC).
