Oh Gheesh.

I got the rain I asked for and more. Not complaining as there was tornadoes in the area - could always be worse!

Did you get hail?

A day in my life.

Now I am jumping in the tub, cause I am filthy and probably have a few hiding ticks…

Last Tuesday in May.

Few highlights of today, had quite the adventure & learned a whole lot! Started & ended the day in field cultivating, checking our perennial flower crops, & squeezed in planting seedlings this lovely evening. Love to see that plants are thriving so far in this heat. Mulching is in the near future to help hold in the moisture & hold weeds at bay..

Went from a cold spring to what seems like summer (+34*C on Thursday) Hope everyone is taking precautions for themselves & any seedlings you are planting out or ‘hardening off’.

Heaps accomplished today & outlook for tomorrow looks even better.

Yesterday felt like the end of May.

Got a bit of a burn on the shoulders fencing in the heat of the day and finished strong with getting the green carpet that has sprung up tilled up. Felt good to work it in before they have a chance to flower and then seed out; Although I am sure if I do not cover or till again, I can count on it returning IF I do not cover the soil. Which everyone should make a mental note of the following, ‘where in nature is the ground perfectly tilled and nothing grows on it ever, but still considered healthy?’ I enjoy observing nature & is something I have pondered over a lot. I realize that tillage is important and is playing a vital role in this little flower farm, but I am also trying to honour what nature wants: the soil covered.

This year I am trying to strive for less weeds and happy soil - hold me accountable to making sure I get the soil covered with either plants or a kind of mulch.

Do you mulch? Would love to hear your thought!

Simply a weedin’ & a plantin’ & lovin’ every minute of it.

Are you a weedin’ & a plantin’?

Daffodils

Love seeing our patch of various daffodils. Brings me to remembering planting them with my sister & mom 5 years ago & they are still going strong. (& multiplying!)

They are one of the flowers as a northern flower farmer, you can plant and count on it every year only getting better.

Highly recommend adding to one’s home flower garden, an early spring bloomer - adds so much cheer and brightness when everything else is still only starting to grow.

Was able to get a couple little bouquets, nice to be back working with our cut flowers.

Happy May Long!

Sprinkle.

It rained all around the garden this morning, I may have felt a drop. Thankful for the sprinkler & the free facial exfoliation while I worked. Soon enough it will be covered with a lot of plants & will have to fight to see the soil.

I cannot wait! Until then I will squint my eyes, hat brim low, and continue to plant, water and tend the plants.

Happy Thursday!
