The Manotick Centennial is tomorrow!

We’ve put a couple hours work in at the pit 😉and are VERY excited to celebrate 100 years of the legion tomorrow!

There will be tons going on, so check out the Manotick Legion Branch 314 page for details.

Battlefield will have lunch covered with loaded baked potatoes that will not disappoint. Slow smoked pork shoulder or barbecue chicken with all the fixings. Not going to suck.

We’ve even got pork belly burnt ends to give away to make the line for lunch a little more tolerable (while supplies last!)

$5 from every meal goes directly to the Manotick Legion to support their efforts and say thank you for a century of veteran care!

We're dialing in the new pit and getting ready for a massive event on September 26th.
Battlefield Barbecue is heading to the Manotick Legion Branch 314 to help celebrate their centennial….. 100 years of serving veterans. That's a huge milestone, and we're honored to be a part of it.
And yup…. the 1,000-gallon Bogline pit is coming with us.
We’ll be serving up loaded baked potatoes stacked high with:

Pulled pork
Smoked chicken
Smoked Gouda cheese sauce
Pit beans
House barbecue sauce
Kale slaw
And all the toppings

It's going to be unreal.

Come grab some food, support a great cause, and check out a band of over 100 bagpipers taking over the grounds. The goosebumps are free!

Most importantly, come out to honor 100 years of dedication to our veterans. $5 from every meal will go directly to supporting the Manotick legion.

We were excited to share some photos and stories from our event this weekend honouring TF 3-06, but the excitement has been shadowed in loss. Our respects to Mike’s family, friends and loved ones.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mike Lisk. A member of the Royal Canadian Regiment and a TF-306 vet. He will be missed by many.

Rest easy.

There comes a time in every man’s life when he has to make the mature choice.
Sometimes that means trading in your favourite two-door for a sensible four-door that can actually handle the family.
Out with the 500-gallon, in with the 1000-gallon. Sacrifices had to be made, but responsibility calls.😉

Huge thanks to Nick and Will at Bog Line Barbecue, this pit will be more than enough to serve the Battlefield family 👍🏻👍🏻, and it wasn’t bad for morale either….. I don’t know that a middle aged dad driving Highway 401 has ever gotten that much attention or that many thumbs up (and it wasn’t the dad-bod bringing it in).

Great barbecue takes time…. Lots of it.

Today we started one of our last cooks on our Bogline 500 gallon pit, and were treated to an incredible sunrise to go with it. With a coffee on the go and the crackle of a cherry and hickory wood fire for a soundtrack, it’s a heck of a way to start the day.

The fellas at Bog Line Barbecue are building our newest pit, and we are pumped to get our hands on it. We have a few huge events coming up next month, and didn’t need much convincing to move up to a 1000 gallon offset cooker. Yup, twice as big.

This 500-gallon rig has served us well, turning out countless memories and even more good eats, but it’s time to level up. Going big means more space, better airflow, and more food for the masses.

Huge thanks to the Bog Line crew for bringing this vision to life. Next month is going to be legendary—who's hungry?

This guy didn’t have a clue what was coming.

This picture of me was taken almost two decades ago, and the experience is about to come full circle.

I was called to Afghanistan 2006 in response to a mass Canadian casualty situation, and asked to step into shoes of friends and colleagues who were hellaciously injured or had died for our flag. During that tour a nasty bug made its way inside my body and made itself a home, creating a pile of problems when I finally returned to Canada. Chemo x 3👎🏻 steroids 👎🏻 biopsies 👎🏻 side effects 👎🏻 long term health 👎🏻

To say thank you to the doctors who helped me get through all that, I started a charity barbecue for a hospice. It grew, and grew, and grew into Battlefield Barbecue, which continues to honour Canadian sacrifice and support Wounded Warriors today.

On the 12th of September, Battlefield Barbecue will have the incredible honour of feeding a gathering of soldiers and loved ones at CFB Petawawa who participated in TF-306 Operation Medusa 20 years ago. I cannot imagine a more full circle moment, or a crowd I want to buy lunch for more than these. This tour saw some of the worst of the war in Afghanistan, and they deserve recognition far beyond what has been given to them.

To everyone who has been invited, we cannot wait to connect with you and feed you our best. To those who have supported Battlefield Barbecue through sales, this is the type of event your purchases fund. Supporting and remembering those who serve our country isn’t a sales pitch, or a marketing scheme, it’s who we are and why Battlefield exists. Thank you for supporting us, and funding events like these, you’ve bought an incredible group of deserving folks a premium barbecue feast.

We love a good Canada Day celebration.

This year we will be headed down to the Kemptville Legion to share in the celebrations. The Bogline pit will be with us, and we’ll have the smoke rolling with a few unique and a few classic menu items.

Our classic and beloved Armadillo eggs, pulled pork sandwiches, and two types of beef sausage will be filling the Canada Day air on Reuben street with the smells of a happy mouth. We’ll be serving from lunch until the food runs out.

We are proud to be with our local Kemptville Legion this Canada Day. These folks continue to support veterans in our community, and this year they’ll be bringing the music too, with two live bands in the afternoon. Looking for a burger or dog? The legion will have their bbq rolling as well, serving up the classics.

What a day!

While catching up on some rest, we are taking a minute to say THANK YOU to everyone involved in our event yesterday, with a very special shout out to our volunteers.

We are finalizing the numbers still, but this community came together and raised close to $15,000 for Beth Donovan Hospice, the Kemptville food bank, and CHEO in just a couple hours.

Thank you for sharing a meal with us, thank you for sharing kindness and generosity with us, and thank you for making a difference to charities that matter.

We’ve been getting LOTS of questions about our charity barbecue this weekend….

Food service starts at 11 am, and we serve until the food runs out (brisket disappears quick!). Lineups get formed pretty quick, BUT we are well prepared this year and will be walking the line saying hi and handing out appetizer ribs, wings, pork belly, drinks and freezies to make the line a little more enjoyable…. And we have a HUGE bouncy castle to keep the kids busy.

The address is across from 25 Tamarack Circle. There are no tickets, and we do not have “pricing” for meals. We kindly ask that you return our generosity as you can to help support CHEO and BDH and the food bank in a meaningful way.

The auction is live now on our website, but items will be on site with us. All bidding goes through the site to keep it clean and fair for everyone. (This year’s lineup is AWESOME!) it ends at 3pm on Saturday.
