Lamont County Declares Agricultural Disaster
On August 25, Lamont County Council declared a state of Agricultural Disaster due to excessive moisture during the 2026 growing season.
Agricultural producers across Lamont County have faced significant challenges this year. Flooded crops, disease pressure, fields left unseeded due to saturated conditions, significantly reduced hay production, delayed crop growth and increased production costs are all having an impact.
The declaration formally brings these concerns to the attention of the Province of Alberta and requests recognition of the substantial hardship facing local producers, along with timely assistance for those affected.
Agriculture is at the heart of Lamont County’s economy and our rural communities. We recognize the difficult growing season our producers are experiencing and the financial and personal strain these conditions can create.
