Springtime is porch swings, picnics, and soft pauses. I can't think of a better drink than lemonade for this time, so I collected some ingredients and brought them to mom's for some brainstorming and taste testing.

Next week, we will be releasing our artisan freeze dried lemonade collection at the Made for Women Market by Mango Markets. More pictures, recipes, and information to come.

Some things cannot be freeze dried. I haven't been able to preserve the integrity of lilacs so instead, I'm doing it the way my mom taught me - simple syrup infused with freshly picked lilacs.

Perfect for pairing with our upcoming Spring release, inspired by warm sunny days and good company. 👀

Breakfast, but make it a little more thoughtful.

Our Sun-Kissed Berry Porridge starts with Scottish oats and garden & farm grown berries, ripened slowly in the summer sun, then freeze dried at their peak — holding onto their colour, their flavour, and everything good in them.

It’s the kind of breakfast that actually carries you through your morning — full of fibre, slow energy, and, with a scoop of chia, a boost of omega-3s and protein that keeps you going.

And it shifts with you.

Warm it into a comforting porridge, or add 1/4 cup chia seeds and leave overnight. You'll wake up to a thick, vibrant jar — no cooking, no rush.

Most of the food we buy …no one actually made it for you.

I mean really made it.

By hand. Slowly. With care behind every step.

That’s what we’re trying to do differently.

This isn’t just business. It is something I’ve built with my mom — long hours in the kitchen turning local harvests, garden fruit, and foraged finds into food that actually means something. Freeze-drying, for us, is a way to capture food at its peak and hold onto it — flavour, beauty, and all.

My mom bakes the sourdough — constantly experimenting, pouring so much love into every batch. Her raspberry white chocolate mini loaves are my weakness. She also creates all the soups, and grows the ingredients that go in them.

My friend Julie Slater creates the cookies — the raspberry double chocolate pistachio is the one I hide from everyone else, but her favourite is the blueberry banana breakfast cookie.

Nothing is rushed. Nothing is mass-produced.

It’s the kind of food we make for our own family.

We’ll be at the Mission City Farmers Market on Saturday, April 11. Everything in the photos (and more) will be there.

This month was full of little snapshots that meant a lot.
Slow, careful work behind the scenes… then a weekend filled with conversations, curiosity, and connection.

I met farmers, small business owners, and so many kind, genuine people who reminded me how much homemade and homegrown food still matters. There was so much interest in freeze drying, and so much appreciation for the care that goes into every product.

Watching people fall in love with my mom’s soups was the highlight—we sold out, and my heart was so full.

Feeling grateful, proud, and more excited than ever to keep growing this little dream.

Some stories stop you in your tracks.

Last month I read about thousands of apples that needed a way back into the community — and I couldn’t stop thinking about them. About how much care goes into growing food, and how easily it can be lost if there isn’t a system to catch it.

So today, my kitchen filled with steam and apples.
Not as a solution, but as a response.
A way of saying: this matters.

Processing fruit like this — juicing, freeze-drying, preserving — is how abundance gets carried forward. It’s how good food doesn’t disappear when timing, logistics, or capacity fall apart.

Food is memory.
Food is care.
Food is something we pass along when we can.

I’m grateful to the farmers, growers, and community builders who remind us that feeding people is never just about food — it’s about responsibility to one another.
