If you haven’t explored the world of Muscadet yet, then start here. There are some lovely examples available at the SAQ and most are very reasonably priced. Muscadet aka melon de Bourgogne, is crisp and tart with a nice touch of minerality. Not to be confused with muscat which is used in sweet w**es.

When you buy a w**e from another country, but it states it was bottled in Quebec, you’re buying a w**e that was shipped in bulk. This is a good indicator that even if the label tells you the country and the region, you’re getting a w**e made from industrial grapes and produced in a factory. That doesn’t mean it’s poor quality, but it will be lacking the soul of a w**e made from grapes grown in the vineyard and made by the w**emaker.

When a camping trip leads you to a w**e tasting festival (Fete des Vendanges)! Great little event hosting local producers and Quebec w**es, not typically my favourite but I definitely found a couple of winners here. We had a lovely afternoon sipping and snacking.

Great find to enjoy this long weekend. I liked it that much I forgot to photograph it with some left in the glass! It’s a Spanish monastrell, a grape that might be new to you. It’s course with aromas of plum, spice and a little oak. Only $17.50, this is fabulous.

It was the perfect day yesterday for a w**e tasting picnic in the park. Thanks to my fellow Brims (Brits in Montreal) for allowing me to host this. Wonderful day.
