To our valued Atelier Zamara community,

As you may have noticed, we’ve been closed for a little while. At this time, we need to step away from our regular café operations as we focus on some personal and business matters.

We kindly ask that you keep us in your prayers during this season. Your love, support, patience, and understanding mean more to us than words can express.

While our storefront remains temporarily closed, we are still accepting custom cake and cupcake orders, as well as bookings for birthday parties and private events. We’d be honoured to continue celebrating your special moments with you.

Please stay tuned for future updates. We look forward to sharing more with you when the time is right.

Thank you for being part of the Atelier Zamara family. We appreciate each and every one of you and look forward to welcoming you back soon.

With gratitude,

Mary-Anne & Damian

As many of you know, we’ve been temporarily closed due to a family emergency. Over the last 4 weeks, my father has been hospitalized and fighting for his life in the ICU. This unexpected season took a tremendous toll on me and my family, and I needed to step away to be by my father’s side during one of the most difficult moments of our lives.

My father fought courageously every step of the way and eventually underwent open heart surgery. By the grace of God, his surgery was successful, and he is now on the road to recovery. 🙏🏾

Through it all, God has been so good. Despite everything we’ve faced, I continue to hold onto faith and trust in Him. He has brought me too far to leave me now.

I want to sincerely apologize for the delays, inconsistency, and silence during this time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who checked in on me, prayed for my family, showed patience, and continued to believe in me and Atelier Zamara. Your kindness and support have meant more than words can express.

This is not the end for us — we are preparing to welcome you back better than ever. ❤️

Thank you for your grace, your prayers, and your continued support.

God bless you all.

Montreal community, today I’m asking for your help.

I never imagined I would have to ask for help like this.
I’m a mother of 8 in Montréal trying to hold onto the dream God placed in my heart while everything around me feels like it’s falling apart.
But I still believe God will make a way.

I never imagined I would have to write something like this, but here I am.

My name is Mary-Anne. I’m a mother of 8 children and the founder of Atelier Zamara Dessert Catering.

Shortly after opening my business, life hit us with challenge after challenge. My son was diagnosed with aggressive scoliosis, we experienced the loss of my grandfather, and I had to close my shop multiple times because of everything happening in our family.

Because of those closures, I fell behind financially. I tried reaching out to my previous landlord and their lawyers asking for more time, explaining everything my family was going through. Unfortunately, they proceeded with legal action.

After going to court, I was ordered to pay $20,000 as part of a settlement. I tried my best, but with everything we’ve been facing I couldn’t make the payment in time. Now I’m waiting for a new judgment that could leave me responsible for more than $74,000.

At the same time, we’re struggling to keep up with rent for our home and our shop. Our landlord is trying to evict us. We’re dealing with collections, overdue bills, and even times where our hydro was disconnected.

We’ve downsized our vehicle, my husband had to take time away from work to support our family, and right now we’re relying on food banks just to get through some weeks.

Even at the shop, things kept happening — from losing inventory because of a squirrel trapped in our space, to our pipes freezing during the winter.
It has felt like one battle after another.
But I’m still here. I’m still working. And I’m still trusting God.

I’m not ashamed to ask for help during this season. If you’re able to donate, share resources, or simply share this message, it would mean the world to my family.

Please keep us in your prayers.

Thank you for your kindness and support.Mary-Anne ❤️

I’m still reflecting with so much gratitude on the opportunity I had during Black History Month to cater and speak with the incredible team at Smart & Biggar.

Being invited not only to share food from my business but also to speak about what it’s truly like to build and run a business as a Black entrepreneur meant so much to me. Moments like these remind me that our stories, our journeys, and our voices matter.

Entrepreneurship is not always easy, but it is deeply meaningful. To be able to create, serve, and share my experience in spaces that value learning and conversation is something I never take for granted.

Thank you to the beautiful team at Smart & Biggar for the warm welcome, the thoughtful dialogue, and for making space to celebrate Black voices and businesses during Black History Month.

Grateful for every door that continues to open. 🤎
