I never imagined I would have to write something like this, but here I am.
My name is Mary-Anne. I’m a mother of 8 children and the founder of Atelier Zamara Dessert Catering.
Shortly after opening my business, life hit us with challenge after challenge. My son was diagnosed with aggressive scoliosis, we experienced the loss of my grandfather, and I had to close my shop multiple times because of everything happening in our family.
Because of those closures, I fell behind financially. I tried reaching out to my previous landlord and their lawyers asking for more time, explaining everything my family was going through. Unfortunately, they proceeded with legal action.
After going to court, I was ordered to pay $20,000 as part of a settlement. I tried my best, but with everything we’ve been facing I couldn’t make the payment in time. Now I’m waiting for a new judgment that could leave me responsible for more than $74,000.
At the same time, we’re struggling to keep up with rent for our home and our shop. Our landlord is trying to evict us. We’re dealing with collections, overdue bills, and even times where our hydro was disconnected.
We’ve downsized our vehicle, my husband had to take time away from work to support our family, and right now we’re relying on food banks just to get through some weeks.
Even at the shop, things kept happening — from losing inventory because of a squirrel trapped in our space, to our pipes freezing during the winter.
It has felt like one battle after another.
But I’m still here. I’m still working. And I’m still trusting God.
I’m not ashamed to ask for help during this season. If you’re able to donate, share resources, or simply share this message, it would mean the world to my family.
Please keep us in your prayers.
Thank you for your kindness and support.Mary-Anne ❤️
