With the harvest season wrapping up and Thanksgiving just around the corner, we want to share how thankful we are again this year for opportunities to volunteer at the Mosaic Community Food Farm throughout the growing season. Our 6 daytime language classes made several fieldtrips to the community garden throughout the summer and fall, helping with all the stages of growth from planting to harvesting.
Everyone benefitted from getting outside the classroom and learning gardening vocabulary and skills, while enjoying the warm weather. Even better, several of the students with a background in agriculture were thrilled to do some hands-on-learning specific to growing food in Saskatchewanβs climate, which they can now apply to growing their own gardens. Best of all, the harvest was incredibly bountiful and everyone got to take fresh produce home with themβin some cases sampling a type of local fruit or vegetable for the first time. Thank you to the knowledgeable, always welcoming staff at Mosaic Community Food Farm for another great growing season! Our students greatly benefitted from your willingness to share your expertise and the harvest. ππ₯π§

We appreciate the ways Mosaic Community Food Farm has helped make this a great summer for our clients! Throughout June, our adult language classes took turns going on field trips to volunteer in the garden. Many of the students have strong backgrounds in cultivating crops, and it was a really positive experience for everyone to get outside the classroom after the past year of restrictions, enjoy the summer weather, and help make things grow. The Food Farm is having a very successful growing season, and we were thrilled today to receive their delivery of some of the freshly harvested produce for our clients to enjoy. Sometimes, hard work pays off in delicious ways!

Each year the Mosaic Community Food Farm grows nearly 30 different vegetables that are distributed to Hunger in Moose Jaw, Riverside Mission, and Moose Jaw and District Food Bank. So far, over 1,800 lbs of vegetables have been harvested and donated this year. π½οΈ
General Manager of Wakamow Valley Authority, Todd Johnson works tirelessly to ensure these healthy food options are available to those who need it most β which why he is one of Mosaicβs .π₯¦π
Mosaic Community Food Farm has brought us a lot of tomatoes. We spent a morning processing them and freezing them. We will pull them out of the freezer throughout the winter and turn them into pasta sauce or use them in chili or soup. We certainly appreciate the donation!!
