We have begun another hive rescue! These girls made a home under a set of concrete stairs in elk point. With no access to the hive, our only choice was to design a one way cone exit trap. The bees can leave, but shouldn't be able to figure out how to get back in. Ive provided them with a nice hive box to move into instead. Time will tell if it works or not, fingers crossed!

We just got back from rescuing a hive from beautiful lac sante. We were able to use the generous donations to our bee rescue fund jar to cover the costs involved! Thank you to the kind folks that helped make this happen. We get a lot of bee calls from around lac Sante for some reason, but they are always gentle hives and never an issue. We even found the queen once we got home! Looking forward to seeing what these girls will do here.

I just came back from Fox Den Farm Stand, 1 mile east of Derwent, now open! Check it out, open until 4 today or until they sell out. Farm eggs, meats, fresh cut flowers, some veges, jams, baking. Cash or e transfer.

We had a surprise swarm tonight. Kind of a rush job to hive them before a storm moved in. But we got them settled and even found the queen! We will treat them for mites this weekend and let them take thier time and get well established. We want them strong for winter!
