A head-to-head closes the night. ⚽

Switzerland → Ol Maronat, Thomas Mornezoni’s nutty chestnut lager.

Canada → Les Rouges Patersbier, Adam Marshall’s light Belgian ale from the NC Teaching Brewery — the home team, the home beer.

Mexico vs South Korea is beer-vs-beer: Zapata, Hector Hernandez’s crisp Mexican lager, against Red Devils, Sungyeon Kim’s India Pale Rice Lager. Two students, two lagers — order both and call it a flight. 🍺

France plays — pour something elegant. Bière blanche is a hazy French/Belgian-style witbier: soft wheat, a hint of coriander and orange peel, creamy and smooth. Brewed by Caroline Chabert Delio, Associate Dean of our School of Hospitality & Tourism. Refined, easy, very drinkable. 🍺

Three matches, three of our nations on the pitch. 🌍

Switzerland → Ol Maronat, a clean chestnut lager named for the street-corner chestnut roasters of brewer Thomas Mornezoni’s Swiss-Italian hometown.

Brazil → Catharina Sour, an electric-pink raspberry sour with caramelized pineapple, by Apoena de Souza Baker.

Home team, neighbour team. Two North American sides play today — two of our beers answer. Canada → Les Rouges Patersbier, a light, dry Belgian-style ale from Adam Marshall, lead brewer at our own NC Teaching Brewery. A local beer for the home side. USA → GOOOOOOOALDEN ALE, a nutty, toasty golden ale by Evan Fleury, head brewer at Spotted Octopus in Buffalo. Pour a pint, sing your chants, try not to soak your neighbour when it goes in. 🍺

Kickoff. The tournament starts today — and so does Nations on Tap. 🌍 As each nation we’ve brewed for takes the pitch, the beer it inspired goes on tap.

Mexico → Zapata, a crisp, clean Mexican lager built for warm-weather watching, by student Hector Hernandez.

South Korea → Red Devils, an India Pale Rice Lager with a smooth rice base and bright IPA hops, by student Sungyeon Kim. First whistle, first pints. Sixteen nations, all summer long. 🍺
