Presto Chango from Fairweather.

Happy Friday!

This is a tart and tasty 4% pale ale. It’s brewed with blueberries and “lemons lemons lemons!” I love the colour! And, the sip is as delicious as it looks - berries and lemons for days!

North South from Badlands x Le Ketch x Brasserie du Bas-Canada is a 6.5% hazy IPA hopped with Riwaka and Nectaron. I’m always excited for the Badlands anniversary release! This 9th anniversary release was particularly enticing! I mean, this one alone was worth the price of admission!

The pour is absolutely gleaming in the early evening sun! A delightful dankness surrounds each sip. I get mounds of melon and citrus with a bright, ripe pineapple. The sip ends chalky and dry. De-f’in-licious!

Amigos from Rorschach x Ernesto O.R. is an 8% DIPA double dry-hopped with El Dorado, Motueka, and Nectaron, brewed in support of FoodShare. Yum! Lots of hoppy goodness on that soft, creamy body. Tons of tantalizing tropical fruits up front with a hint of sweet, juicy orange. I get lots of lime near the end. And, when it combines with the pink grapefruit it’s magic!

Double RiRi from Badlands is an 8.2% hazy DIPA hopped only with Riwaka. And I thought the regular RiRi was great
so nice! Double is MWAH! I get subtle dankness and a big orange / grapefruit explosion on the sip. There’s melon and hints of lime. So juicy! Dank with a boozy note on the nose as you get deeper into the beer. It ends dry with a bit of a grassy, chalky feel.

Fountains of Endless Life from Third Moon is a 14% English barleywine aged for 28 months in a 10-year Henry McKenna barrel. Sunday night seemed like a perfect time to crack this beauty. It pours with deep mahogany hue. I taste dark fruits enrobed in vanilla and caramel. The barrel character is delightful, boosting those flavours with a complex oakiness. A boozy note emanates from each sip. Mmmm!!

Big Hoss from Pistols Brewery is a 6% IPA. I haven’t been to the brewery, even though it’s right up the road. But, I have had their pilsner a few times. I was excited to try their IPA and it exceeded my expectations. Given the name, and can design, I expected a malty, WC-leaning IPA. What I got was a soft, citrus-forward, easy-drinking IPA. I get hints of pine on the backend with a clean, refreshing finish.

Brothers House Ale from MacKinnon Brothers x Red House Pub is a 4% ale dry hopped with El Dorado. Another tasty treat courtesy of The Commons beer fridge. And, this is a lovely little number with subtle but pleasing tropical hop notes. A light bitterness brings it all together for a refreshing finish.

Flames from All My Friends x Messorem is a 10% TIPA hopped with Citra, Freestyle Southern Cross, Freestyle Waimea, and Waimea Fresh Hop Juice. Wow - so creamy and smooth! Every sip oozes tropical hops. I get candy sweetness with pineapple and citrus. It’s dank underneath with just enough of a boozy note to remind it’s a TIPA. A slight bitterness takes hold as citrus pith lingers on the finish. Amazing!

You can’t go wrong celebrating with Sacrum from Bad Bones, a 6% extra hoppy ale hopped exclusively with Nectaron. So juicy and hazy! Peach and passionfruit for days. Whispers of citrus lead to a grassy finish.
