The Pasadena Heritage Society is excited to be partnering with Birchbark Farm and The Western NL Food Hub to bring our community a free ALL-AGES event: The Salad Bowl Gardening Workshop!

Join us on Friday, July 10th from 10:30am-12:00pm at Birchbark Farm for an informative and hands-on gardening workshop. You’ll leave with an appreciation for Pasadena’s farming heritage & current impact, AND a mini “salad bowl” planted from seed. Each participant will also have a chance to enter their name for PHS SWAG giveaway.

Learn sourdough this summer ☀️

I’m hosting hands-on sourdough workshops out of my home in Humber Valley Resort throughout June, and there are still a few spots available.

These workshops are designed for beginners or anyone who tried sourdough before and felt confused by all the information online. The goal is not just to follow a recipe for one day, but to actually understand the simple system behind sourdough baking so you can continue making bread confidently at home.

You’ll learn:
• mixing and handling dough
• fermentation and proofing
• shaping techniques
• how to fit sourdough into everyday life realistically

Everyone leaves with:
✔️their dough
✔️active sourdough starter
✔️proofing container
✔️loaf pan
✔️detailed guide and troubleshooting notes

Workshops are relaxed, hands-on, and limited to 4–5 people so there’s lots of individual guidance and time for questions.

June sourdough workshops:
• Beginner Sandwich Loaf — June 10 | 6–8 p.m.
• Beginner Sandwich Loaf — June 20 | 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.
• Classic Artisan Loaf — June 27 | 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
