Life is made up of little moments. ❤️

This morning, we paused for a few seconds to take in a scene that could have easily gone unnoticed. The bison stood quietly in their pasture, watching us through the fog as the farm slowly woke up around them. The only sounds were birds singing in the distance and the gentle stillness of a new day.

No rush. No noise. Just a simple reminder that some of life's best moments aren't planned—they're found when we slow down long enough to notice them.

Today, we're grateful for the fog, the birds, the bison, and a few peaceful seconds spent appreciating it all.

What little moment have you appreciated lately?

Today, we're celebrating a very special girl — our pup, Shortcake (Shorty)! 🐾🎂❤️

Ten months ago, this beautiful Dogo Argentino came into our lives, and from the moment she arrived, she became part of the family.

We've watched her grow from a young pup into an incredible dog. She is unbelievably smart, gentle, loving, and has the kindest soul. Shortcake has a sensitive heart, a calm nature, and a special way of connecting with both people and animals. Whether she's exploring the farm, keeping us company during chores, or simply laying at our feet, she brings joy to every day.

Anyone who has met her knows just how special she is. She has earned a place in our hearts that can never be replaced.

As we look back at these memories and see how much she has grown, we're reminded how lucky we are that she found her way to us.

Happy 1st Birthday, Shortcake! 🐾🎉

Thank you for being such an amazing companion, loyal friend, and cherished member of our family. We love you more than words can say and look forward to many more adventures together.

❤️ Love,
Your family at White Pine Bison

🧐 You never know what you'll find when taking apart an old barn.

Over the years, these buildings become time capsules.

Old hardware, hand-forged nails, forgotten repairs, and evidence of generations of hard work tell the story of the people who built and maintained them.

Every beam and board has witnessed decades of farm life.

Have you ever found something interesting hidden in an old building?

Saving History One Board at a Time
🔨 Every board has a story.

Today we continued sorting and stacking barn boards, timbers, and salvaged lumber from the old barn. It's a lot of work, but these materials deserve a second life rather than ending up in a burn pile.

We're preserving as much of this piece of local history as possible and looking forward to future projects that will incorporate these beautiful old materials.

🪵 BARN TEARDOWN – DAY 3 🪵

Today was all about sorting, stacking, and preserving a piece of history.

As the old barn comes down, we're carefully organizing the barn boards and hand-hewn beams that have stood strong for generations.

Every board tells a story, and every beam carries the marks of the craftsmen who built this barn long before modern equipment existed.

Rather than seeing it as demolition, we see it as salvaging history.

These materials deserve a second life, whether in new farm projects, furniture, or future builds.

It's hard work, but there's something rewarding about uncovering the character hidden beneath decades of weather and use.

Stay tuned as we continue the process and reveal more treasures hidden inside this old Ontario barn.

🧐 Barn Find of the Day!

While cleaning out one of our old barns, I came across this interesting piece of glass.

At first glance, I thought it might be some sort of grounding device, but it appears to be an old utility or guy-wire insulator used on power lines many years ago.

It's amazing what turns up on a farm when you start digging through generations of history.

Every old barn seems to have a few stories hidden away in the corners.

Does anyone recognize the manufacturer or know approximately how old this might be?

The glass is embossed with "...MFG CO" and has a unique pumpkin-shaped design.
I'd love to hear what the antique and utility collectors think! 👇
