This predator somehow got into th chicken run. Luckily it did not kill any chickens and once we got it out of th netted area it flew off chased by the livestock guardian dogs. Phew! Now to make sure it doesn’t come back.

Winter is an interesting time for chickens. They don’t get to free range on grass and eat bugs, they have to deal with the fluctuations of weather so we do our best to suppliment their feed, we typically feed a mix of wheat, barley, peas, sunflower seeds, oyster shells, and sometimes cracked corn as a treat with appropriate vitamins and minerals. On top of that we utilize the loop program and we get the left over produce from the local grocery store.

Recently we had a customer tell us they got a green and red yolk in their eggs. So I thought I would take a second to post how that can happen. The following chart explains yolk colours. The other most common thing we can see is bloody eggs and that can happen in new/old layers or even extreme cold. We do our best to screen eggs leaving as best as we can. However if you ever come across an unusual egg take a photo and send it to us. We will happily replace with a free dozen a dozen eggs on your next visit to the farm, and this allows us to make adjustments to their feed.

Hello to everyone in our community!!

Firstly I want to thank all of our customers over the last 4 years, I cannot believe we are going into our 5th year!

This year we downsized to just having chickens and our plan is to take the next year to see if continuing to sell eggs to in the community is a worthwhile venture.

As costs rise everywhere we are trying our hardest to keep our costs down. One way to do that is to recycle egg cartons. However we can only accept clean cartons back, cartons with water stains, egg whites on them or dirt will be recycled. Egg cartons cost about $0.60 per carton and that is buying in bulk so we appreciate all of our customers who return their cartons.

As of right now we will continue with our current pricing of $7 a dozen or 3 dozen for $20.

We no longer offer the 4 dozen for $25.

We offer free local delivery in Plamondon and can meet Saturday and deliver on Saturdays in Lac La Biche.

Thank you everyone who has supported our little egg farm we hope to make this year the best year yet!

This year we are focusing on our chickens and eggs as well as fresh made bread and treats. We will have a few baby goats and we will be hatching chicks also! Who else is ready for spring?

Meal time chaos. They are going to be too big for the pool soon. It’s a really nice way to contain the mess of bowls being turned upside down or mushy food getting everywhere. We have puppy’s ranging from 4.5 lbs to 7lbs. 5 weeks old today! Tomorrow they will get their weekly grooming session and maybe I’ll update their photos.

Puppies are 4 week old currently. They are doing well with litter box training, started food and are starting to show interest with toys. They are enjoying playing with eachother and we have them on a routine which will make transitioning them to their furever homes easier. We will start introducing kennel time to them later in the week. They have been exposed to car rides, vacuums, children, cats and dogs.
