Use a variety of mixes with Jade, Purple Oxalis, Banana, etc. especially if you want a deep root by using large pot. By combining a number of compatible small varieties when potting up easy to separate roots to different pots. This improve critical oxygen water exchange and soil doesn’t stay wet too long.

Monsterra non flowering till huge in tropics Stem cuttings with leaf propagates with roots to be transferred to pots after about a month in vase with water changed often - some liquid root fertilizer helps.

More flowers from one cutting? Yes, please 🌸 This is one of those garden tricks that feels extra rewarding when it works.
✂️ Take cuttings from healthy, non-flowering stems when possible.
🌿 Remove the lower leaves before placing them in water.
💧 Keep leaves above the water line.
☀️ Set the jar in bright, indirect light.
🔁 Change the water every few days.
🪴 Move them to soil once the roots are strong enough.

Cool!

A glass vase on a kitchen table can bloom a full flower — no pot, no soil, no garden bed. Spring bulbs forced in water produce roots you can watch spiral downward and flowers you can time to the week.

- Paperwhite narcissus — no chilling needed, set the bulb on pebbles in shallow water, white star-shaped blooms in four to six weeks
- Hyacinth — chill in the fridge for ten to twelve weeks, then place in a forcing vase with water just below the base, fragrant blooms in three to four weeks after
- Amaryllis — no chilling needed, set the bulb in a vase with stones and water touching only the roots, dramatic red trumpets in six to eight weeks
- Crocus — chill eight to ten weeks, then place on pebbles in shallow water, small purple cups open in two to three weeks after
- Tulip — chill twelve to fourteen weeks, transfer to a forcing vase, roots cascade down, blooms in two to three weeks after

Grape hyacinth, daffodil, and dwarf iris force the same way — chill in the fridge, transfer to water, and wait for the show.

The bloom was inside the bulb the whole time. Water just gives it a reason to open.
