Creating handcrafted wooden pet bowl stands, Doug is combining quality craftsmanship with practical pieces designed with our four legged family members in mind. Because our pets already think they’re royalty, so why not give them a dining setup to match? 👑🐶🐱

These stands aren’t just about good looks! Raised feeders can be a great option for senior pets, large breeds, and animals with mobility challenges by reducing how far they need to bend. Raised bowls can also aid in digestion.

With wood sourced right here in Northumberland County, Knotty by Nature is bringing local materials and craftsmanship together to create something special for our four legged family members.

A little corner of comfort. 🌿🐾

Every so often, something someone says reminds us that Duke’s Port Hope is about so much more than what’s on our shelves.

Recently, we’ve had several customers tell us that when they walk through our doors, they feel safe.

Safe to talk about the puppy who is driving them a little bit crazy.

Safe to admit they’re frustrated because their picky little companion has decided that this week, apparently, they no longer like their favourite food.

Safe to share the worry that comes with watching an animal grow older.

Safe to talk about the hard days.

And safe to talk about the heartbreak of saying goodbye.

These conversations might seem like little moments, but to us, they mean everything.

Animals have a way of weaving themselves into every part of our lives. They bring us joy, laughter, frustration, worry, companionship, and eventually, sometimes, grief. Loving them means experiencing all of it.

So if you’ve ever stood in our store a little longer than you intended because you needed someone to listen…

If you’ve shared a story about your animal, shed a tear, had a laugh, or simply felt comfortable enough to be yourself…

thank you.

Thank you for trusting us with the tender parts of being an animal person.

We’re grateful to be a little corner of the community where you can come as you are, talk about the things that matter to you, and know that there will always be someone here who understands just how much our animals mean to us.

🧸🐾 This week, our Franken Friends will find out where they’re going home!

We have been talking a lot about these wonderfully weird toys lately, but there is something we really love about them.

To us, a dog toy might look like a simple squeaky, crinkly, floppy little thing.

To a dog, it can be their favourite thing in the whole world. ❤️

It is something to carry around, something to tug, something to cuddle and something to proudly destroy in approximately 11 minutes. 😂

Toys give dogs a chance to play, explore, use their brains and just be their wonderfully goofy selves.

And that is what makes these Franken Friends feel a little extra special.

They were created by giving pieces of old toys a second life, while the money raised from the fundraiser is helping give rescue dogs a second chance too.

Thank you to everybody who purchased tickets and helped us contribute $350 to Flights for Hope . ✈️🐾

We cannot wait to draw the names this week and see which lucky pups get to take these wonderfully wonky friends home!

🐾 ONE YEAR ON WALTON STREET. 🧡

Oh, what a day. 🥹✨

It was so lovely to see old friends and new friends come through our doors today, two legged and four legged alike. From familiar faces we’ve come to know and love to new friends meeting us for the very first time, you made our anniversary celebration extra special. 🐾

There were paw dicures, portraits, pupcakes, goodies, raffle tickets, lots of laughs… and, of course, a whole lot of wagging tails. 🎉🐶

And the sweetest part? Together, our incredible community helped us raise $350 for Denise Cochrane ( Flights for Hope ) to support animals and rescue organizations across Canada. 🧡🐾

One year ago, we opened our doors on Walton Street with a dream of creating a space where pet people could feel at home, nutrition could be approached thoughtfully, and every furry customer could be treated like the family member they are.

Somehow, one whole year has already passed.

Here’s to Year Two, more muddy paws, happy tails, ridiculous pet stories, laughter, learning, and whatever grand adventures come next. ✨🐾
