Big changes to our set up and our barn! I can’t wait to show you all! Colors aren’t too exciting to let the rabbits’ color shine, of course 🥰😉

Our Ch*****ne d’Argent babies are 10 weeks old and starting to show us what they may grow into 💕

Right now we’re watching body type first: broad shoulders, good depth, smooth toplines, strong loins, and full hindquarters. Their silvering is still changing, so we’re not judging them just by how light or dark they are today. There may be changes in the next coming months, but we’re seeing some great growth in BBF0704 and BBF0703!

Our goal is to keep breeding toward balanced commercial type, even silvering, dark undercolour, and that beautiful classic Ch*****ne “old silver” look. Our strong stock we’ve been blessed with are helping us get there quickly!

Lots can still change from here, so these guys will be fun to watch mature. 🐇✨

Kale is our smallest and newest addition to Bear & Briar! He comes from Dodge Minis Cumberland and he’s a giant personality in a 2 pound package!

Did you know like their name alludes, Netherland Dwarves are from the Netherlands and were almost wiped out during WWII?

And somehow, despite being one of the tiniest breeds… they regularly behave like they own the entire rabbitry. 😭💕

Small enough to fit in two hands. Confident enough to challenge your life choices.

14 babies. One mama. And a litter we weren’t sure would make it. 💕🐰

When our Creme d’Argent doe delivered 14 kits, we knew the odds weren’t exactly in their favour.

Normally, we’re pretty hands-off. We keep our rabbits comfortable, provide what they need, and allow nature to take its course. We don’t usually fight to save every kit in an exceptionally large litter.

But something about this one felt different.

After careful monitoring and responsible culling, we brought the litter down to eight — giving those eight the best possible chance to truly thrive rather than simply survive.

Then we focused on mama. We added BOSS (black oil sunflower seeds) and oats to her diet for some extra calories and support while she handled the enormous demand of nursing. Our raspberry bushes are bald from shearing them for her diet and our fridge full of herbs and lactation vegetables.

And she has absolutely blown us away. 🥹

Eight round little bellies. Eight growing babies. And a mama who is feeding them beautifully.

There’s a lot more to raising rabbits responsibly than the cute baby pictures. Sometimes it means knowing when to step in, when to step back, and making decisions based on the welfare of the animals in front of you.

This litter reminded us that every once in a while… it’s worth trying. 💕
