At Wildhorse Ventures we start and train horses, hold clinics, sell mountain horses, sell Cariboo Mountain Dogs, have a saddle shop where we sell good useable gear for cowboying and mountain riding, and build rustic log furniture and metal work. Darcy Luttmer has been starting horses for over 30 years. He cowboyed on a couple of the biggest ranches in Canada, working young stock out on cows and in
the mountains. He works to build trust and confidence in horses, young and old. He has a soft, yet firm approach, creating a respectful, responsive, confident horse. His horses go on to many different disciplines with a solid start and ready to go in any direction. He takes horses in from the beginning of May to mid-October. Colleen Murphy guided pack trips and hunts into the mountains for 14 years. She also taught guide schools for 8 years as a head instructor at Chilcotin Holidays out of GoldBridge, BC. Since retiring from guiding she has continued to head to the mountains for a few trips a year with her horses and family. She has a wealth of knowledge to share about heading into the mountains with your horses. We hold a few different types of clinics at Wildhorse Ventures. We hold colt starting clinics, for those that want some help starting their young horses themselves. We hold trust and confidence clinics, focusing on building confidence and trust for you and your horse, using different obstacles, including what nature provides. We also hold packing clinics for people who want to learn the skills to go out into the mountains with their own horses. Message us to find out what clinics are coming up. We spend a lot time in the bush and the mountains with our horses. These horses get a tonne of experience packing and riding through all sorts of obstacles and conditions, as well as a whole lot of other practical experience. Every year we have a few of these horses for sale. Message us and find out what's available. We have spent all of our adult lives working with horses and dogs. We have come to appreciate a good dog out in the mountains with them. We have struggled with finding a dog that has the majority of the traits that makes a good mountain dog, so we have created our own. These dogs are the majority cow dog, with a small amount of guardian dog in them. We aim to create a dog that is sensitive enough to listen well, agile enough to put on long miles, but also with the protective instinct to stand up to bears, and with a little more size than your average cow dog. These dogs are called Cariboo Mountain Dogs. Message us to find out when the next litter will be available. We have been building saddles and tack for over 8 years. We both have used gear in our work, working with horses in all sorts of conditions, and under long hours. We have come to appreciate well made gear that will stand up to whatever you throw at it. We bring this experience to our saddles and tack, plus add in a bit of an artistic flair. Check out our work at Luttmer Leatherworks. Another side to Wildhorse Ventures is the artisan side of things. We build rustic log furniture, metal art, and other artistic pieces. If you have an idea, send us a picture and we'll let you know if we can get it built for you.
