Happy father's day
​To all the dads, grandpas, uncles, and father figures who aren't afraid to get a little mud on their boots, patch up a fence in the pouring rain, or stay up late checking on the livestock—today is for you.

​Being a dad means wearing a lot of hats: mechanic, builder, driver, protector, advisor, rock and teacher. Here on the farm, we know that the greatest crop we can ever raise is the next generation, showing them the value of hard work, kindness, and a deep respect for the land and animals.

​Whether you are spending today out in the tractor cab, firing up the backyard grill, or walking through the pens with your kids, we hope your day is filled with family and a well-deserved rest.

Our family just grew by four paws! Everyone, meet Clara, our brand-new Bouvier des Flandres puppy. She is already stealing hearts, dominating nap time, and keeping us all on our toes.

Madison Jewell made the choice and long trek to alberta to find her. After several days, she's back.

Since a few people have asked about her breed, here is a little bit about what makes Bouviers so special:
​The Ultimate Farm Dog: Originating in the Flanders region of Belgium and France, the breed's full name is Bouvier des Flandres, which translates directly to "Cow Herder of Flanders."

​Jack of All Trades: They weren't just herders; historically, farmers relied on them to pull heavy milk carts, turn mills, and guard the homestead. They are built for hard work and heavy weather.

​Built for the Elements: That famous thick, rough coat is actually a double layer designed to protect them from brush, briars, and freezing rain while working stock out in the fields.

​Heart & Brains: They are intensely loyal family protectors who prefer having a job to do. They're brilliant, observant, and hold a calm, steady presence once they outgrow the goofy puppy phase.

​Clara is settling in beautifully, learning the ropes, and getting used to the sights and sounds of her new home. We are absolutely smitten!

What happens behind the scenes at the farm.....but the show must go on.

Yesterday was a hard day, both emotionally and physically.

Started off with a fence break at last mountain house. We, had to run 2 simultaneous petting zoos, a bday party. Then finish off the day with seeding. Anyone of those things would have crushed most operations.

Add ontop of that a harassment of my employees and Madison Jewell .

But even worse, was having to say goodbye to a friend and petting zoo pest/star.

Shtevie.

She was only 3 years old but couldn't hold her food for the last few weeks, despite medical interventions, and I had to make the call to put her down. Hardest of all was Maddie said she'll do it. I can't express or imagine how hard it was for her to do that.

Shtevie was a premie lamb that we had to care for and quickly stole our hearts. We'd take her to petting zoos, she'd follow us along. Didn't care the dogs were barking at her to move. She walked at her own pace following her shepherds. Often in trouble, never on time. 😆 🤣 😂

We buried her, after a long day, right beside our bear bear. One of our dogs who was killed by a burgler a year ago to the exact date.

But the show must go on, only with gaping empty spot in our hearts.
