🍽️ The Brit Stop
📍 Rowans Ravine, Saskatchewan
The Brit Stop just opened today, and after one visit, I can already tell this place is going to become a regular stop for a lot of people heading to the lake.
The family behind it is British, local to the area, incredibly welcoming, and the owner even stopped by our table to chat with us during our meal. You can tell there’s genuine heart behind this place.
They also operate a food truck.
Before anything else, I started with the sausage rolls and they were good. Flaky pastry on the outside, warm, savoury sausage filling inside, just comfort food in roll.
I tried the Cottage Pie Jacket, the Big Ben Bangers & Beans Jacket, the Little Brit Burger with fries, and the Bakewell Black Cherry Cola.
First off… this soda?? SO good. The black cherry flavour was subtle, and the tiny hint of vanilla & cream made it ridiculously smooth. |$6.50|
Now let’s talk about this Little Brit Burger because this immediately earned a spot on my “Kids Meals, Adult Appetite” list. This was NOT a tiny burger. The homemade patty was thick, juicy, and well seasoned, topped with melty cheese and ketchup on a brioche bun, and it came with crispy fries. |$8.50|
The Cottage Pie Jacket was my favourite. (My family used to call it Shepherds pie). Here, they turned it into a loaded jacket potato situation with buttery potato underneath, rich cottage pie filling, melty cheese on top, and all the cozy comfort food vibes you want on a weekend like this. The only thing I’d personally add is just a little more of that gravy because I love things saucy. |$12.50|
The Big Ben Bangers & Beans Jacket was exactly that viral UK-style comfort food you always see online. Savoury baked Heinz beans, sliced sausages, fluffy potato and cheese. It’s hearty, cozy, and honestly perfect on a gloomy day like today. |$10.50|
Before we left, they sent us home with banana bread on the house… and unfortunately for me, it completely humbled my own banana bread skills.
For brand new ownership, with brand new menu items in Rowans, this was a really strong first impression. Great portions, fair pricing, genuinely kind owners, and menu items you really can’t get anywhere else.
If you’re heading out to the lake this summer, I highly recommend making the drive over and checking them out.
