Some new grass for our breeding group. I have had a few people ask how we get so many twins. We had all twins last year minus two ewes who gave a single one who was a first timer. First timers usually give a single I’m told but I have only experienced this twice. Almost all of ours gave twins.

It’s all in the grass I promise you.

Another Ram Lamb off to his new farm today. Very pleased with this one. I bet he will make some good looking Katahdin Lambs.

We extracted another 250 pounds of honey this past week. That came from 9 medium honey supers. Lots of nice golden goodness thanks to our hard working honey bees.

A morning pasture check. Here on the farm we rotationally grazing meaning the sheep graze(eat) a pasture and then we move them and let it rest.
We like to do 7days on 30 days off. However that all depends on some factors how many sheep are in the flock, how large is the area you are grazing and how well the grass has grown.
We have had unusual weather not only for our bees but for the sheep. With the added rain we are finding the grass is green and lush still at the end of august last year it was dry and grass was none existent.
Here we are running our breeding group. 18 ewes and 1 ram. They are definitely fine on this grass paddock a lot longer than the group of 40 we were running at the beginning of the summer that needed to move every three days. Grass management just another job on the farm.
