Hey Everyone, my name is Bandit. I'm a steer. I was born on March 17th. I am a beef cross. I am part of the farms meat production. My dam is a holstein , her name is Icicle. My sire is a Belgian Blue. His name is Gaston. Because I'm a steer and a beef cross I'm not registered but if I were, I suppose my name would be Moo-Lait Gaston Bandit. Belgian Blue cattle are double-muscled so they yield more meat, making it a good cross on a holstein. Our color ranges from white, blue roan, black or a combination of them. I love being scratched and the chores girls have affectionately nicknamed me Tub because I'm always first to meet them at the gate for chop, what can I say, growing extra muscle means I need to eat more...and of course I love the scratches.

Hey Everyone, just standing here enjoying our favorite toy. It's an automatic brush and as you can tell by the bristles we all love this thing. All we have to do to turn it on is touch it. It turns on automatically and then we stand and let it brush us. Our backs, sides, neck, and those hard to reach places like behind the ears and tail head. It's the best in the spring to help get all that itchy winter hair off. Often we wait in line to get a turn but this morning I was up bright and early and got to the brush first.....

We just want to take a minute and let our customers know that next week Tuesday Aug 18th is Cassie's last day of work at the Creamery. On Thursday the 20th she is moving to Ottawa to work as a missionary with NET Canada for 1 year. We thank her and will miss her. Please keep Cassie, her team, and everyone at NET in your prayers. Munch, munch, munch.... there's just some sounds and smells that go with certain seasons. And the farmers wife and the girls here say there's nothing like fetching cows on pasture, just walking and hearing us munch the grass and the wonderful smell that goes with it is definitely a sign of summer. My Birthday is January 26th, 2023

When most people think of ivy they think long, delicate, easy-going, versatile, attractive. That's not exactly what you would think when you see me. I'm about as stout, robust, short as a dairy cow comes. Nothing delicate here. But easy-going, and adaptive, well that's for sure me. I'm one of those cows that gets my job done and goes "unnoticed" you could say. I don't put up much fuss about anything. I just do what I am meant to do. So I guess I am more like an ivy than not, there's no big flowery show just constant and consistent, doing my job.

The farm is a great place to grow up! It's a good place to learn about life. Death is a reality of life and we'd be lying if we always posted the good stuff. In truth there are times when things on the farm are not so much fun, this is one of these times. Chip has been a great cow, unfortunately she got sick and went into her "retirement " early. We hoped that she would recover and she would be the "pasture mama" for our calves on pasture. Unfortunately her health and her age didn't allow for that, she took a turn for the worse and we had to make the decision to euthanize her. Not an easy choice for any farmer. Chip served her purpose and she served us well and for that we're very grateful.

Oh, hi there! I'm one of the latest additions to the farm. There have been three more calves after me, all born before their due dates, busy week at the farm. You all met my dam (mom) a little while back before she went into her dry period and now here I am. Don't I look just like my dam? I can't wait for the new calves to get a little more moblie it's soooo much fun to run and buck and play together.

My Birthday is April 10th, 2023

You've already met me in a previous post all about me, today it's about us. Yes it's Wednesday afternoon and we're all hanging out in the barn because it's raining again. We're quite comfortable in here. We can go in and out as we please and we do love it outside but in here we're extra comfortable. You see the bedding pack in a clay based pack so no concrete which makes it way easier on our feet and legs and the farmer always has nice deep straw for us to sleep on and stay dry. Dry is key to keeping a healthy udder. And the barn is comfortable too, it's called a "cold" barn which means it has no heating system. The ceiling is insulated and the walls are not. It has curtains that run automatically to help regulate temperature and chimneys to facilitate natural air flow, there's no need for fans or forced air, making the barn nice and quiet all the time. We spend quite a bit of time in here, in fact I've heard the farmer call us "Princesses". When it's hot, we come inside. When it's windy, we come inside. When it rains...inside again, snow, of course we come in. When the bugs are bothering us, we come inside. A drink of water....way better inside than at the trough outside. So you see we've got it pretty good, "made in the shade", I could say.
