When the flowers open up in the mornings, there is a buzz of honeybees gathering pollen.

One of my personal favourite ways to use ground pork: taco soup!

My base recipe is the Easy Taco Soup from Natasha's Kitchen.
Instead of beef, I use 1.5 lbs ground pork and make a recipe and a half.
If I've got garden tomatoes or corn, I'll use those, otherwise canned works good too.
If there's a small zucchini in the garden, I'll chop and add that.
I usually do two cans of mixed beans, or whatever I've got in the pantry.
Sometimes I'll finely chop a half or whole chipotle pepper in adobo sauce and add that as well.

About half goes to the freezer for future easy meals, and the remainder gets eaten for lunches over the next week.

After tucking in all the birds one evening, I was giving the cats their night snack when I heard some peeping and rustling in the other room. I went to investigate and found a small crowd of chicks sleeping in the window of the interior door.

In case you were wondering how many chicks can fit in a window . . . this week the answer is seven.
