It’s end of May and now that the weather is good and warm, it’s definitely time to get your seedlings in the ground! We still have a good selection of tomato and pepper plants to choose from and a variety of leafy greens. We’re open 9-5 today (Saturday).

When the chickens came out this morning, they discovered they now have to share their yard with the 3 “naughtys”. These are 3 - one year old calves that wouldn’t respect the electric fence with the rest of the herd, so needed to be moved to the barn or a solid fenced yard. The barn yard wasn’t very enjoyable at this time of year since there is very little fresh grass to eat, the only other option being the chicken yard. Chickens and cattle seem to get along just fine.

Our strawberries this year are looking wonderful and we are ever so grateful! Last year we didn’t have one fresh berry to sell, as winter die-off and strawberry virus wiped our crop out. This year they over wintered well, but there were a few tense weeks when this strawberry virus started to take hold (see third photo taken on May 8th). It was pretty discouraging as any information we could find about it basically said there was no cure. But after 4 misting applications of a homeopathic remedy (water and a few drops of thuja 200) these plants turned right around, and look healthier than ever. Watch for our fresh organically grown strawberries, coming mid-June. No fungicides, herbicides, pesticides or chemicals applied, just homeopathy and lots of TLC!

In front of our store, at the bottom of the rock garden, you’ll find our little greenhouse, now fully stocked. Our vegetable plants, started in certified organic potting soil, are healthy and ready for your garden. We are open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10-6, Friday 10-7 and Saturday 9-5.

A welcome new addition to our farm! Buttercup had her calf (a girl) this morning, and within an hour she was up and trying to find milk. I had to resist the urge to help her find it. The natural instinct they’ve been given is amazing.
