**41 years old. Stronger. Leaner. More energy. And in the best shape of my life. πŸ₯©πŸ”₯**

For most of my life, I accepted a lot of things as just part of getting older β€” gaining weight, having less energy, dealing with brain fog, IBS, allergies, and feeling like I needed carbs to keep me going.

Turns out, getting older wasn’t the problem.

More than three years ago, I changed the way I ate. I went back to simple, nutrient-dense foods β€” **meat, animal fats, eggs, salt and foods that make sense to me ancestrally.**

Since then, I’m **70+ pounds down**, but the number on the scale is only part of it.

I have more energy now than I did when I was younger. I lift weights. I work. I play. I camp. I swim. I spend time outside. I enjoy the sun and fresh air. I live my life.

I’m not interested in being afraid of food, fat, salt, sunlight or getting older.

I want to be **strong, capable and active** for as long as I possibly can.

For me, carnivore was never just about losing weight. It became about stripping away the modern junk and getting back to basics:

πŸ₯© Real food
β˜€οΈ Sunlight
🌲 Time outdoors
πŸ’ͺ Strength
πŸ”₯ Movement
😴 Good sleep
🧠 A clear mind
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Family, land and purpose

I don't expect everyone to eat the way I do. This is simply what has worked for **me**.

At 41, I’m not trying to feel 21 again.

**I’m trying to build the strongest version of myself at 41 β€” and keep building from here.**

**Eat ancestral. Get outside. Stay active. Stay strong.**

Keeping it simple:

πŸ₯© **4 Γ— 4 oz 100% beef patties β€” 1 full pound of beef**
πŸ§€ **3 slices marble cheddar**
πŸ§‚ **Celtic sea salt**

There’s a whole lot of nutrition packed into this plate:

β€’ **~100–110 g of complete protein** β€” providing all 9 essential amino acids
β€’ **~1,000–1,200 calories** depending on the fat content of the beef
β€’ **Essential fats** β€” providing energy and supporting normal hormone production
β€’ **Heme iron** β€” a highly bioavailable form of iron important for oxygen transport
β€’ **Vitamin B12** β€” supports red blood cell formation and nervous-system function
β€’ **Zinc** β€” important for immune function, wound healing and normal testosterone production
β€’ **Creatine** β€” naturally found in beef and important for muscular strength and performance
β€’ **Carnitine** β€” involved in transporting fatty acids for energy production
β€’ **Choline** β€” supports the brain, nervous system and liver
β€’ **Selenium** β€” important for thyroid function and antioxidant defence
β€’ **Phosphorus** β€” supports bones, teeth and cellular energy production
β€’ **Calcium** from the cheddar β€” important for bones, teeth and muscle contraction
β€’ **Vitamin K2** from the cheese β€” amounts vary, but cheese can contribute K2 to the diet
β€’ **A small amount of vitamin C** β€” an often-overlooked nutrient present in fresh beef, although beef isn’t considered a major dietary source
β€’ **Sodium + trace minerals** from the Celtic salt

πŸ”₯ **Very low carb**
πŸ”₯ **No added sugar**
πŸ”₯ **No seed oils**
πŸ”₯ **Protein and nutrient dense**

Nothing complicated.

Whether you’re starting carnivore for the first time, trying to quit smoking, giving up alcohol, cutting sugar, or breaking any habit you’ve leaned on for years β€” cravings can feel incredibly urgent.

But a craving doesn’t mean you have to act on it.

Most cravings come in waves. They build, peak, and eventually pass. The key is having a plan for what you’ll do during that window instead of relying on willpower in the moment.

Drink some water. Go for a walk. Put on some music. Call someone. Get outside. Find something productive to do. Sometimes simply changing your surroundings is enough to interrupt the pattern.

And if you slip up? Don’t turn one bad decision into an excuse to abandon the whole thing. Get back to your plan and keep moving forward.

The goal isn’t perfection.

It’s preparation.

Changing something you’ve done for years isn’t always easy. But every time you experience a craving and choose not to give in, you’re practicing the new habit you’re trying to build.

One decision at a time. πŸ’ͺ

For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples across North America thrived by eating the foods the land naturally provided. While every Nation had its own traditions based on local plants, animals, and seasons, animal foods were a cornerstone of survival in many northern regions.

This pyramid is my take on a carnivore-focused approach inspired by those principles and modern carnivore nutrition. It's not meant to represent every traditional Cree food or way of eatingβ€”it's a visual guide to prioritizing the most nutrient-dense animal foods.

πŸ₯© Muscle meat provides complete protein.
🧈 Animal fats are your primary fuel and support hormone health.
πŸ«€ Organ meats deliver vitamins and minerals that are difficult to match with any other food.
🐟 Fish, eggs, and shellfish add variety and valuable nutrients.
πŸ’§ Water and mineral-rich salt support hydration and electrolyte balance.

Since starting a carnivore diet on April 10, 2023, I've experienced changes I never expected:
β€’ Lost about 70 pounds
β€’ IBS disappeared
β€’ Allergies resolved
β€’ Blood pressure normalized
β€’ More energy
β€’ Better mental clarity

Everyone's body is different, and no single diet is right for everyone. This graphic reflects what has worked well for me and the principles I've chosen to follow.

What do you think? If you follow a carnivore or animal-based lifestyle, what foods are always on your plate?
