Chargrilled Farooj .scarbrough 🔥🤤

Anyone that grew up in the UAE knows that an evening with a plate of smoky yet tender charcoal grilled chicken with khubz, crispy fries and garlic sauce CAN'T BE BEAT!

So I've made it my mission to eat my way through the farooj offerings here in Scarbs. Thanks to glowing reccs from and we ordered from Farooj Abo Alabed over the weekend and were not disappointed.

The fries were crispy and really nicely seasoned, the chicken was beautifully cooked (although it definitely could've been more flavourful) and the Fattoush was very fresh.

It's the sauces and sides however that make this spot stand out for me. Served with a lovely and well rounded pink sauce, a smoky and mildly punchy spicy sauce, and a classic garlic sauce, every bite of chicken can be dipped and customized to perfection. The small tubs of old-school Lebanese pickles really sold it for me, and balanced out the whole meal very well.

Overall, I'm a fan!

Build your own Burger Night 🍔💪🏽

My fave part of customizable dinners like these are that they are fun, switch up weekly meals, and mostly involve prep over active cooking time.

I like making my burger patties from scratch:
Ground Beef, Ground Pork, Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Chilli Powder, and Grated fresh garlic.

For toppings: Chopped Iceberg Lettuce, sliced Cheese (not pictured), Onion, Tomato and Pickles.

And ofcourse, you can be super creative with sauce options.

Serve with airfried sweet potato fries, and it's a hit! 🙌🏽

Recheado Masala Rava Fried Shrimp 🍤🌴

2 Packets of Frozen/Fresh Shrimp- Shelled and Butterflied (600g)
1 generous Tbsp Recheado Masala
Salt to Taste
1/2 Tspn Pepper powder
1/4 Tspn Kashmiri Chili Powder
1 Tbsp Coconut Vinegar (white/apple cider will work too)
1+ cup of Semolina (Rava) for breading
Olive Oil (for frying)

1. Marinate the Shrimp with Recheado Masala, Salt, Pepper, Chili powder and Vinegar
2. Bread each marinated Shrimp individually in Rava (semolina)
3. Fry in Olive oil until golden brown and crispy (~3-5 mins per side on medium-low heat)
4. Serve with a couple of Lemon wedges and enjoy hot!

After being away in India for 2 months, a feast with the family was wayyy overdue. Here's what tonight's menu looked like (co-cooked by Mama and I):

Pork Solantulem
Bbq Pork Riblets
Bean Salad
Chicken Mayo Pasta

Got my Cutlet Pao fix! 😭❤️

One of the few foods that instantly transport me back to my childhood. During our summer holidays, coming home to Goa meant many evenings spent at the pool. And the only acceptable post-swim snack: Cutlet/Choris/Tongue Pao.

Thinly sliced Beef Cutlets marinated in goan masala, coated in Rava (semolina) and fried to a golden crisp. This is sandwiched between fluffy yet chewy bread (pao), and topped with a sweet and tangy tomato sauce and freshly shaved cabbage.
