2005. Fame Gurukul auditions. Kolkata.

Like thousands of other dreamers, I showed up too.

There was just one problem.

A long audition line. Limited time. And a very difficult choice:
Kolkata’s legendary food or music.

Food won. Comfortably. 😄

I had prepared this beautiful song from Kisna, released the same year and sung by the legendary Udit Narayan Ji. But between chasing a musical dream and chasing Kolkata’s delicacies, my stomach had other plans.

Years later, it’s fascinating to look back.

Qazi Touqeer went on to win Fame Gurukul and gave us gems like Afghan Jalebi. Arijit Singh didn’t win, but the rest, as they say, is history.

Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had chosen music over food that day.

Then I remember my singing and conclude... probably the same result. 😂

So here’s a song that has quietly lived somewhere inside me for over two decades, finally making its way out.

21 years late, but better late than never.

Like fine w**e, this song has aged.

As for me... let’s just say I’m aging too. 🍷🎶😄

After effects of long run: lots of sleep, limping sometimes and lots of food 🤣
