It’s 8:04pm. My eyes are heavy, I should probably be thinking about going to bed… and here I am, answering emails.

Why? Because there’s very little I hate more than being slow to respond to someone.

When I took over The Branch Ranch, one of the things I promised myself was that people would always speak to a real person if they called, and they’d always get an individual reply to their emails. No automated replies. No generic “we’ve received your inquiry” messages. Just me, answering you as best I can.

And honestly? It’s a hill I’ll stand on.

Even as the day ticks on, even as the to-do list grows faster than I can cross things off, even when I’m wondering if I’ve forgotten how to keep my eyes open… I still want you to know there’s a person here who cares enough to get back to you.

The slightly less charming side of that promise is that sometimes that person is sitting at her computer at 8:04pm, fuelled by sheer stubbornness and the desire to get to inbox zero. (Spoiler: inbox zero is a mythical place I’m not convinced actually exists. 😂)

Small business life. It’s not always pretty, but it’s personal. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Lately, life has been a bit of a whirlwind around here!

Between workshops, willow, projects in the works, and all the behind-the-scenes things that keep The Branch Ranch (and a few other things!) moving, there seems to be about 27 hours of work to fit into every 24-hour day.

Some days it’s all flowing beautifully. Other days, I’m just moving things from one to-do list to another and hoping for the best.

It’s a busy season, a good season, and very much a one person trying to keep all the plates spinning kind of season. I will say I am still smiling through it all!

A little peek at what’s been keeping me busy lately.

Tell me I’m not the only one whose to-do list seems to reproduce overnight!

Sometimes workshops fill in the blink of an eye… and sometimes they just don’t! 😆

We have two upcoming workshops that need a little help from you. We can keep them as planned if there’s interest, or we can switch things up — but we want to know what you’d actually like to make!

🎄 November 29 — Woven Christmas Tree Collar
This one was booked by request, but so far we don’t have any registrations. Is this something you’d like to make? If not, what would you rather see on the workshop calendar?

🧺 December 12 — Mini Baskets
We had planned a day of making the cutest little baskets, but we’re wondering… are you in for the minis, or would you rather have our Small Round Basket workshop?

Help us decide! 👇
Tell us in the comments:

🎄 TREE COLLAR or SOMETHING ELSE
🧺 MINIS or SMALL ROUND

Your comments will help us decide whether to keep these workshops as planned or make a change!

Sometimes it takes a little while to process.

I’ve now had some time to really think about our Willow Week workshop and all of the amazing things that happened during that week.

I think what always resonates with me the most is what happens when you put a group of like-minded people in a room full of sticks. Something pretty special happens.

When your hands are moving and you’re chatting, beautiful things are created. Not just baskets and things made from willow, but connections, friendships, laughter and memories.

And regardless of who you were or where you came from when you walked through the door, for those five days you were simply part of this little group of people, sitting around a table, working with willow and sharing the week together.

Five days, seven wonderful weavers, a whole lot of sticks, and so many beautiful things created.

I’m still feeling pretty grateful for this one. ❤️
