In farming, you win some and you loose some. This field spend an entire year under tarp with the hope to be ready for this fall. I spent countless hours digging trenches and maintaining them. This spring, I removed the tarps hoping it would dry out but it’s been pretty much raining every other day here. Now I have a wet field and a new lawn 😂 but i’m not giving up! I won’t be planting my garlic here this fall so if you hear of land available for a lease, please reach out!

JUNUARY as well as May have been incredibly busy and not because of the farm unfortunately! I’m just finishing a very long 4 weeks of full time work on top of garden duty and general life. Let me tell you, the people who do this all the time are warriors. But this next week will be filled with weeding, nematode application, transplanting and weeding, as well as more weeding. Oh yeah and I almost burn down the garden? Not sure I’ll try landscaping fabric ever again!

A lot of trench digging happening over here lately… and I can confidently say it’s not my favourite part of farming 😂
But the goal is worth it: hopefully this field will be drained enough to grow garlic in the next couple of years. If you’ve ever transformed wet land into productive farmland, send your tips my way, I’m learning as I go.

We’re very lucky to have so many rubber boa snakes on the land we farm 🐍🐍While I like to play with worms, Sam is more of a snake king of guy!

Farm stand update - due to this very busy summer building our house, I’ve decided to not sell our homemade bread this year. We’ll still open the stand and sell garlic when the time comes, but for now I’ll keep working and developing yummy recipes for you all! I’ve already selected a few sourdough bake goods for 2027 🤤
