Real talk: your watermelon might look a little different this year ๐
Between a brutal late-June heat dome, storms that wouldn't quit, and pollinator bees taking unplanned rain days, Ontario's watermelon patches had a rough go this summer. The plants basically hit pause on growing bigger, so instead of the usual 15-20lb giants, our farmers ended up with a lot of "bowling ball" melons.
But here's the thing: smaller doesn't mean lesser. Same sweet, juicy flavour, just... snack-sized. Less watermelon guilt, more watermelon per bite (technically not how math works, but you get it).
Small fruit, big flavour, still 100% Ontario-grown. That's a trade we'll take. ๐ฑ
