🥳 Happy 9th Birthday to Litter C & our beautiful Spotty (ColourFast Celendine).

Who doesn't love 🍕 pizza on their birthday!

It's been a long and winding road to get to this milestone... but I'm so grateful that she's sound, happy and healthy. We're loving every minute together! 💕

Eight years ago today, I should have died.

Eight and a half years ago, we had just welcomed Litter D - The Miracle 16. I would never have guessed that my role as the only Pyrenean Mastiff breeder in Canada would end in an instant.

A speeding car hit us head on, while we were hauling a hay wagon. Combined impact — 120 kilometers an hour. Our lives would never be the same. 🚑

Recently, a guest staying in our Airbnb asked why I no longer breed the Mastiffs. I told her about my neck snapping on impact — thrown all the way forward, all the way back. The same motion as a hanging. It created a double break of my C2 vertebrae. Hangman's fractures.

She said: "You don't get paralyzed from that injury. It's fatal."

But here I am.

Over the past eight years, I have gone from surviving to thriving, still living with a brain injury and the effects of other life-threatening injuries, and choosing to rise anyway.

Last August, we said good-bye to our founding matriarch, Canadian Champion Éowyn de la Tierra Alta. I held her paw all through the night and she passed away peacefully the next morning - at 13.5 years of age. Her daughter Brandy will turn 11 in May and Spotty, 9 next week. Her granddaughter Donnamira is from The Miracle 16. That last night with Éowyn , I made her a promise that I intend to keep. I promised that I would keep her line going - and set out to do exactly that.

Once I made that decision, things began to fall into place. I found the right breeder — one completely aligned with how I raise my animals: raw-fed, homeopathic, and natural. I’ve reserved a puppy from Poland for 2027. It may seem like a long time away, but quality, especially in a rare breed, cannot be rushed.

Since I first discovered this breed in 2011, my dream was to have a PM with gray markings – so beautiful. When I got Gandalf – I thought he would be gray but it didn’t turn out that way. Gandalf the Beige just didn’t have the same ring to it! This time, both parents are gray.

On this 8th anniversary of “not being dead,” I close the chapter on ColourFast Pyrenean Mastiffs and begin the next – Sacred Eagle Pyrenean Mastiffs.

God willing, we will have our first litter in 2029, sired by our beloved Canadian Master Champion ColourFast Araglas. He is the epitome of the breed standard and the very finest dog I have ever bred. I have been chasing the dream of a baby “Rags” for more than a decade and the stars are finally aligning.

We are also launching our new website:

This Sunday we celebrated our youngest's 8th birthday! 🎂 ColourFast Donnamira was one of the amazing Miracle 16, Litter D, born November 9th, 2017...

Where Birdy-Bird our one-eyed chicken is our Airbnb mini-guest ambassador...

Donnamira is the MAX- top tier - guest ambassador! She has amassed her own growing fan club! I literally watch guests leave to make sure they have not stuffed Donnamira into their cars upon check out like they often threaten to! (It's very good that the shear size of her makes her not very stuff-able!)

Anyway, the beautiful mother of the Miracle 16 is Brandy... the quiet unassuming one who has never missed a day guard shift in her life. She has taken on the elder role since Éowyn's passing and now she believes it's her turn to maybe take some time off and why not have a few minutes on the comfy couch!?

Donnamira was less than impressed today when, although she got to the couch first, like always...

Brandy decided - me too!

Donnamira spent her birthday on Sunday with me in Halifax... I had about six hours to wait for Clayton to attend an event there - so why not spend it with my birthday girl!

Hope all the pups from Litter D had wonderful birthdays - wherever in the world they are!

🏆 Canadian Champion Éowyn De La Tierra Alta

💔 April 18, 2012 – August 28, 2025

Dearest Éowyn,

I started writing this letter to you weeks ago. It has turned out to to be one of the hardest letters I have ever written. My previous drafts were pages and pages of stories/memories, the beautiful times and also the ones where you taught resilience by example – teaching us to never give up. Seven years ago, we went through the darkest of times, but by choosing to never give up – like you – we were able to get through it and find joy on the other side.

I finally did the math and realized it was impossible to share everything – you were with us for 4775 days! Each one of those days, you made certain that your family was protected and loved unconditionally – whatever it took. You never once stepped out of line and gave us your all, every step of the way. I am so grateful for each and every moment over the 13+ years that you graced us with your presence. You will always be treasured and loved.

It wasn’t until a few days ago, when I noticed a copy of my book, “After the Eagles Came: A farmer’s journey” that I realized something quite remarkable. Of the thousands of animals that I have had the privilege to be caretaker to in my lifetime… you, my dearest Éowyn, have secured the place of honour - you grace the front cover of my book – for all time. And you are not just a pretty picture… many of your stories are already placed on the pages to touch the hearts and minds of those who read them.

Finding out about the Pyrenean Mastiff breed in 2011 and then bringing you home in 2012 – I could never have guessed the life-course correction that was triggered that day. Your many children and grandchildren not only fill our lives with so much joy – I know they have touched the lives of many.

Since our accident, which occurred in 2018, I have disappointingly not been able to continue your line. Your passing has caused me to open my eyes to the possibility once more. I learned so much in the early years with you. I have never regretted changing your diet to raw and going all-natural, all those 10+ years ago. You have been healthy, happy and lived amazingly long – but it was not near long enough.

I knew, one day a few weeks back that your time was near. We didn’t leave you unattended for that last day and night. I slept on the floor beside you – as you have done for me thousands and thousands of times – it only seemed fair. I didn’t want to be anywhere else. I held your paw all night long. At 6:48 AM, you peacefully crossed over to be with your family on the other side. The hole that was left on this side was immense. You have been my constant companion for so many years – I still see you everywhere I look.

We laid you to rest, outside of the living room window, where I can see the last resting place of your body, from my desk. Clayton is working on fashioning you a beautiful cross for your grave. We think of you often and feel blessed for all the time that we shared with you.

As of now, I am committing to searching the world over to find that one female puppy that will grow up to continue your line, through your son, Canadian Master Champion, ColourFast Araglas. No matter how long it takes – I will wait for the right one, worthy to carry your lineage forward.

Until we meet again…

All my love,

Georgia

Happy 10th Birthday to our beautiful, Canadian Puppy Champion ColourFast Brandybuck... and all of Litter B!

We had dog loving Airbnb guests all week... and Brandy waited all day today for them to return to celebrate her birthday with us! Brandy even gladly offered herself up a guest pillow this evening too!

Well, there's a first time for everything! 9 1/2 years old and Brandy has decided that she too should be able to sleep on the couch!

It is the first time I've ever seen her even try to get on the "dog" couch or any furniture... so I helped her up. It's usually Spotty or Donnamira that have the rights to that couch... I actually held Donnamira back to make sure there wasn't a fight!

But all is well and Brandy is enjoying her nap! She is also day guard so it's not even usual for her to be inside in the daytime! She's a hard worker and she deserves a good rest! ❤️

Hi, this is Clayton, Phyllis Jones had the kind idea to start a GiveSendGo for our dog Spotty’s vet bills, but she wasn’t sure how to set it up on the computer. So I gave her a hand, and we’ve got it all set up now! If you’d like to support Spotty’s recovery or help us spread the word, here’s the link:

Happy 9th Birthday To Litter "B" & our beautiful Brandy (Mother of the Miracle 16)🥳

Brandy hasn't slowed down at all... Still our wonderful full-time, day guard. She was tearing across the field today but it was towards me to run past me and I didn't have time to get the camera out fast enough for a picture or video!

She did get some nice steak for supper (as well as beef lung and spleen too - yummy!) She had some crunchy watermelon rinds too! Birthday treats galore. I thank God for my beautiful Brandy.
