Potatoheads Potatoheads is a network of friends who gather one Saturday a month in Vancouver's DTES to help out! History of Potato Heads:

volunteered a few times with another group - Spud Patrol - in late 2006 but they were already well-staffed with volunteers. So Lynn decided to start her own group, and thus Potato Heads was formed in February 2007. Lynn always said "we’ll make it work" and somehow they did and continue to do so. The number of potatoes always seems to come close to matching the quantities of butter, sour cream, chi

ve, cheese and bacon bits. Supplies like plates, cutlery & napkins come from occasional donations and sponsors, but predominantly out of the pockets of Potatoheads. Lynn handed over the reigns of the group to Randy Simpson in 2012, and he's been the point person ever since. Under new direction, Potatoheads are attempting to include as many extras as possible - more clothing donations, additional food items & gift bags at Christmas time. The philosophy of “volunteers bring whatever” still holds true today, Customers still end up walking away with something, right to the end of our shift there. Those we feed are always grateful. And being able to provide a simple meal and some dignity to those in need is why we do it.

Potatoheads are awesome! Thanks for coming down to Pigeon Park on Saturday! We had big crowds, dry weather, a lot of holiday spirit, and thanks to many generous donations, a whole lot of gift bags to hand out to locals. Happy holidays to everyone and we will be back in January!

Hey, All! It's almost that time of year again! As you likely know, Potatoheads go to Pigeon Park in the DTES each month and in December, in addition to serving baked potatoes, we generally hand out gift bags containing essentials like toothbrushes/toothpaste, toiletries, socks, food items, etc. If you are interested in donating items, donating funds to buy items or making up your own gift bags, reach out!
