Sadly, meat chicken pre-orders are closed, as we will not be able to restock this fall.
Last week, dogs from the neighborhood above us broke in and killed every last one. This was trespassing and done as a game, not just a couple for food like other predators we have experienced here.
This is not the way the birds were supposed to go. We respect our animals, raise them with love, make sure they go humanely, and use every possible part of them for food and dog treats.
We will not be able to raise another batch this fall, so there will not be meat chicken or dog treats from our farm until spring.
We will continue to stock the beef dog treats we make from off cuts from Schweb Family Cattle in Spallumcheen and will see about finding an alternative source for chicken treats.
Middleton neighbours, please call RDNO dog control if you see loose dogs around. The neighbours who own these dogs did own up to their mistake and compensated us for our losses, but their dogs have been down on our stretch of farm properties multiple times.
