Barb's the floating restaurant will be happy to cook you up one of our crabs or you can buy a whole crab next door at The Fish Store and they will steam it up for you. Failing that, you can head across the park to Finest at Sea and they will obligingly cook one up for you. You should check these other businesses out anyway. Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Live Seafood Tank Technician to join our team in maintaining and ensuring the optimal health and quality of live seafood in our customer's tank systems. This role is vital to seafood operations, requiring attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to food safety standards. The ideal candidate will have experience or interest in food processing, sanitation, and handling live aquatic products within a manufacturing or food industry setting.
Duties:
Monitor and maintain live seafood tanks, ensuring proper water turbidity, temperature, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and oxygen levels.
Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of tanks and related equipment to meet food safety standards while adhering to provincial guidelines
Conduct mechanical inspections of tank systems and troubleshoot issues as needed.
Follow all safety protocols related to food handling, sanitation, and equipment operation.
Maintain accurate records of tank conditions, maintenance activities, and seafood inventory.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of sanitation procedures and food safety regulations is essential.
Mechanical knowledge or experience with equipment maintenance is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety standards.
Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks related to tank maintenance and seafood handling.
A proactive attitude towards learning new skills related to live seafood management processes. This position offers an engaging opportunity for individuals passionate about seafood quality control and food safety practices.
Applicants will have a reliable vehicle capable of transporting tools and equipment from job to job. Fuel expenses are reimbursed.
Applicants must be able and willing to respond quickly to scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) as well as non-PPM service calls.
Remuneration:
PPM visits are paid a flat rate of $168 for each visit. Visits are one to two hours depending on system complexity.
Call out rate is $75 per hour.
