This is a great example of something that people make with elk antler - traditional hand tools! Dan Bath will be using this handmade elk antler scraping tool this weekend during his tanning demos at the Marshville Heritage Festival, right here in our hometown of Wainfleet Dan stopped by the farm a couple weeks ago to choose just the right antler for his task. He decided on one of our yearling antlers, which is perfect for projects. If you find yourself out at the festival this weekend, find Dan & say hello, and see if you can spot the scraper made with Elk Antler grown right here in Wainfleet! They may not be getting any ladies, but they don't know this. They will spend the season making futile attempts to attract the girls - bugling, fighting, posturing, covering themselves in mud & urine, but alas, it will all be in vain.

Each of our pastures is connected to a central run, which leads to the handling facility in our barn. Without this system, it would be impossible for us to get near them for regular health checks, inspections, or, at this time of year, sortation.

Our bachelor bulls have now all been placed together, and the gloves are off! Over the next couple of months, the top bulls in this group will continue to face off, vying for dominance. If I were to guess, Elkatraz will be in charge, and Doodlebop will take second place, and the competition between them won't end until December. I guess now we just wait to see what happens?

We may find it less asthetically pleasing, but I promise he still thinks he's the sexiest bull alive, and the cows couldn't agree more! In a couple of weeks, when hormones start raging & the bulls see red, this small move could mean the difference between life & death. The last thing we want is for our animals (or ourselves) to get hurt, or worse!

With a score of 536", Riker officially grew his largest set of antlers ever this year! Previously, his biggest were grown in '26, and measured 532". We are over the moon and thrilled to have a bull like him on our farm. Riker is now 41 pounds lighter, bald, and anxiously awaiting his harem.

As our very first "batch" of 2 year olds entered their first real antler season, all eyes were on their pasture to see what would happen. It didn't take long for Doodlebop to be an obvious stand out in the crowd - His width was unbelievable, and his dropped brow tines were a bit goofy. Needless to say, we could have never anticipated a score like this! We are very happy & excited to see what will happen in the coming years - and really hoping those brow tines start pointing up in the future! *Sired by our very own Riker*

In 2025, at 2, Wi******er measured 300-5/8". With an increase of over 100" this year, we are thrilled! Last year, we wondered if using him as a breeder for a few young heifers was a good idea? This year, we are going into rut with a lot more confidence in our decision! Wi******er is a Silverstar son, born in 2023.
