Predators are a real problem. Everything wants to eat chickens!

FREE RANGE CHICKENS: A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🐔

I get this question all the time:
"Are your chickens free range?"

And I have to physically stop myself from diving into a full-on TED Talk every time. 😅

Here’s the real story you don’t see:

Free-range chickens? Not exactly living their best, wild pioneer life.
They’ve got the survival instincts of a rock. A confident rock, but still… a rock.

Everything’s out to get them:
hawks, dogs, coyotes, snakes, raccoons, possums… even the occasional chicken with some attitude. 🦅🐕🐍

And did you know a single laying hen costs around $60 these days?
So when folks ask me to let Henrietta roam the pasture, laying eggs in the middle of a cow pile for that authentic farm experience, what they’re really asking is for me to keep replacing chickens. 🤦‍♀️

Honestly, I should be charging three times more for free-range eggs. Hazard pay is real. 💸

But yes, our chickens are cared for, protected, fed quality feed, and allowed to be chickens… without turning into someone’s snack.

Farm fresh doesn’t mean farm foolish. And trust me—your eggs are still amazing. 🥚😅

We are happy to announce that we once again have eggs. Thank you to all our patient customers while we switched over our flock. The egg stand will be back at the roadside this weekend.
