Our Heritage Hearts Mixed farm in Westlock County, Alberta. We raise Angus Beef and kathadin lamb, on pasture. Registered Clydesdale breeder. Farming with a focus on soil health.

What fills your heart? Do you know what I mean? What is it that you need to do for yourself that will give you the fire to get the other requirements of life done? We all have the "need to do's" and the "would like to do's" in our lives. Somedays it feels like my need to do's are the overwhelming majority leaving little time for the want to do's, the heart fillers. We hope by sharing our family's journey towards a simpler more sustainable life we will inspire you to find your own heart fillers.

There’s something that stirs the soul this time of year. I would compare it to nesting in pregnancies. Must be how squirrels feel. These cherries will make a great mid winter treat.

We have two kinds of cherries. These Evan’s cherries and Nanking. My Evan’s are much more productive and a larger cherry. Nanking are smaller, sweeter and often have way less production above the snow line. I have continued to let my cherry suckers grow and have quite a large grove now.

What’s your favourite local fruit? I definitely have appreciated my cherries over the years.
