Yesterday we got this book gifted for our daughter. It is a Gardening book for kids. Written in 1978.
The knowledge how soil should function is out there. It is not a new concept just not talked about a lot.
Translation of the text:
15. Soil algae.
16. Diatoms (silica algae).
17. Threads (hyphae) of a soil fungus.
18. Rotifers in a drop of water.
19. A testate amoeba that has built a shell from mica flakes, quartz grains, and diatom shells.
20. Nematode (roundworm).
21. Soil amoeba that catches a floating Scenedesmus alga.
22. Decomposer fungus of the forest soil.
23. Mycorrhizal fungus / fungal root.Just as above ground on Earth, below ground there is a cycle of life and decay, and a cycle of taking in and giving off nutrients, operating like a highly complicated, well-coordinated mechanism.
No organism lives entirely on its own. Instead, everything is connected in a great puzzle, with all the organisms interacting with and depending on one another.

What an amazing weekend in Minton Saskatchewan. Family Axten invited like minded people to their farm. This was the first and not last . Speakers like Gabe Brown and Joel Williams talked about soil health and plant function. We learned about nutritious food, different grazing systems, compost systems, cover crops and even communication. The crowd was amazing and there was a lot of experience exchange.

3 day window of our Johnson-Sue Compost.
See the circle of life! Notice all the tiny bugs!
See how the straw moves?
You could just pass by and say, cool another compost or you could take a moment and admire life!

After 11 days we are still between 50-60°C and it is still fogging up the shop. This is biology at work!
