Hmmm–

The Iran War has unexpectedly boosted the recycled-plastics sector: as virgin plastic prices soared in April–May 2026—due to disrupted petrochemical supply via the Strait of Hormuz—recycled plastics became comparatively more competitive. Analysts call this "a major moment" for recycled plastics (eco-business.com).

Sad news, our Stewart Crossing property plan has fallen through at the ninth hour. It may resurrect but some things need to be resolved first which will take some time or forever. We are sad, they are sad. I think we all hold out hope though and perhaps later this summer or next year all will work itself out.

The solution for now... a hike on the Dena Cho Trail... one of my favourite places in the whole world.

These are some paintings Ive been mucking with with Goosie Will and I on the Dena Cho Trail coming into Ross River late last summer.

The Plan

I had been filling it slowly, breath by breath, a bright and taut thing stretched full of summer plans — the road through the trees, the work, the mornings, the shape of something finally beyond the magnet of the capital.

Then a small thing. Not a fist, not a storm. Just a pin — a question no one thought to ask, a road that crossed the wrong land, a lawyer too busy.

One word — or the absence of one — and the balloon did not explode. It simply let go of its shape. Quietly. The way good things sometimes end. Not with a fuss, just with air going out of the room.

I am left holding the limp and weightless thing that was, for a while, a whole summer ahead of us.

Crooked Creek Basecamp may belong to someone else's morning. Or good things may come out of the delay.

Here's a fun story!

We went to the Tourism Connects event by and and I got chatting to all sorts of folks and left my purse on the other side of the room (trust!)

When I got back to it I said to Meagan from , hey thanks for looking after my purse.

She laughed..., 'oh I went through it looking for shiny things... you know ravens like shiny things'

So I didnt believe she did, I laughed too and said... 'I think I have something you will like' and I found her a Yukon Plastics sticker in my purse.

Cra cra she said, I have a sticker for you too!

Hiring for summer 2026! We have big exciting news!

Janna and Will are purchasing a homestead for Yukon Plastics in downtown Stewart Crossing, where we will create a new production home for our creative circular economy work while maintaining a continued presence in Whitehorse.

This move gives Yukon Plastics room to grow: more space to make, teach, host, experiment, and continue transforming local waste into useful, beautiful, durable products with a strong Yukon story.

The property will also become Crooked Creek Basecamp: coming this summer: basic lodging and workshop opportunities.

This is a big, exciting next step for Yukon Plastics: a place where circular economy, northern design, hands on learning and Yukon adventure come together.

Follow along as we build Crooked Creek Basecamp and please share this job opportunity to anyone up for an unusual job this summer.

What a great workshop day with 17 youth from a local grade 8 class. They were really into the machines and the process and it was a beautiful day!

They seemed delighted equally with making new items out of waste plastic and the hard core rap we put on for a bit by mistake.

It was a real pleasure making and bbqing with you cool cats!
