The new boy in town. Panache is the result of a late heat by Zana, which meant an anxious August delivery. Luckily Mother Nature decided she had enough of summer and the cooler weather started that day. A couple ours before midnight on her due date Zana went into heat. I was watching her on the cow cam when I saw her bag break, and out came one solo hoof...upside down. Into the squeeze went Zana and once Pan was pushed back in and the other leg brought forward, he was delivered with great flourish, backwards. He wasn't long getting up once reunited with mom.
He's brindle, like his two parents. He's a lovely little man. This will most likely be Zana's one an only purebred Highland calf as she's due to retire we think.
