Windsor Pizza Wednesdays

Episode 51: "Presto Pizzeria" in Belle River.

I don't often find myself in the Belle River area so I just punched in "pizzerias near me" and went to the only one that said they were open at 11am. We pulled up to a family diner next to a sports complex and so I honestly wasn't sure what to think! I certainly didn't expect there to be a former Naples employee with 40 years of experience making pizza who is training his nephews to be the next generation of pizza makers at Presto! Thank you Tom and Noah for the excellent pie!

Windsor Pizza Wednesdays

Episode 50: "Franco's" at Tecumseh and Lauzon Rd..

And the award for roundest pizza goes too... Franco's! Franco's has been a serious name in Windsor pizza since they opened back in the late 1950's and it's clear to see why. The sauce is great, the crust is wonderfully crisp, the cook is excellent and by golly it's just a darn good lookin' pie! The only negatives are that it was a bit on the pricier side and I definitely missed the cornmeal, but with free delivery on orders over $20 you should absolutely consider them for your next pizza night!

Windsor Pizza Wednesdays

Episode 49: "Superbowl Lanes" at 10000 Tecumseh Rd E.

After Rev's Rosebowl's pizza was one of the gems from our "Hunt for the Hidden Gem" series a few months ago, I was encouraged to give another bowling alley pizza a try! This pizza had a lot of really great strengths; it had a super well cooked bottom, very generous amount of Galati cheese, tons of cornmeal, and a super crispy crust. Negatives were that it needed a bit more sauce, was a touch small, and could have used a bit more toppings but honestly, we have had pizza from actual Windsor pizzerias that has not been as good as this "bowling alley pizza" so I have to give them mad props! Well done! ❤️🍕

Episode 48: "Cheese Wheelz" at 1294 Lauzon Rd.

I remember being a young teen when Cheese Wheelz started popping up in Windsor and hearing that they do garlic butter on the crust, which at that point was previously unheard of for me. This pizza is a rare thing because it's something from my past that seems almost as good as I remember! Good crust, solid sauce, generous toppings and a good cook make for a pizza that should be a staple of at least some of you in this area as your pizza night supplier! Add to that the passionate and friendly owners and you've got a winner! ❤️🍕
