PITTING PARTICIPANTS TO PUSH PALATE PERFECTION !!!
The Fall Junior chef event was held on October 14, 2026 at MITT, 130 Henlow Bay. Student teams provided an epic performance of pasta perfection featuring junior Chef teams from Winnipeg's finest culinary education centres including Red River College, Kildonan East Regional Secondary School, Technical Vocational High School and Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology.

One of our “behind the scenes” culinary stars!

Barbara is an award-winning culinary professional with 30+ years bridging the worlds of professional kitchens, culinary education, business ownership, and competitive food judging.

She opened and operated Dessert Sinsations & Design- a retail gift and bakeshop in Winnipeg in 2000 and migrated the operation to a full-service bakery café for 15 years, in 2006: Dessert Sinsations Café.

Recognized at regional and national levels as a Judge for Canada’s Great Kitchen Party for a decade - she is known for deep expertise in the culinary and pastry arts, and flavor development. Barbara secured strategic partnerships that fuelled the competition’s profile and championed the advancement of Canadian Chefs.

Chef Barbara held the role of Chef Educator and curated a sustainable field-to-fork curriculum for Professional Baking at Assiniboine Community College, training hundreds of students while simultaneously building a thriving catering brand for the school bakery.

Chef O’Hara is burgeoning author and is currently writing an inspiring pastry cookbook. She spent this past summer working as Transport Logistics Coordinator with three hotel properties in beautiful Vancouver for FIFA Worldcup26.

Calling all aspiring chefs! ‍

The cultural workshop series is hosting a kid-friendly workshop with our Junior Chefs Academy series!

Young chefs will learn the art of rolling colourful, creative sushi using fun and kid-friendly ingredients. This interactive experience encourages teamwork, builds confidence in the kitchen, and inspires curiosity about new foods. After crafting and plating their sushi masterpieces, kids can snap a photo of their creations before sitting down to enjoy their delicious work.

Culinary Federation Winnipeg held their first event of the year at Saint Norbert’s farmers market last Monday. The well attended event was a chance to see some of the finest in Manitoba products and share an evening together in the wonderful atmosphere at Saint Norbert’s Farmers Market. The evening buffet was a fall fiesta of flavour featuring our Latin suppliers.
Culinary Federation president Scott Hyndman gave us a brief overview of the upcoming years many activities and competitions that are being worked on by the executive board. Scott also presented our Senior Chef Competition winner a medal recognizing his fantastic showing at the national conference in May. Chef Eejay Chua placed second in the country, our best performance local chef in the last ten years.
