We made the decision to put Maggie (Magdalene) down tonight. She had been healing well from whatever caused her neck injury but developed an infection from it. I’m devastated. She was the first lamb born on our farm. She left the farm to have some babies and then came home and the plan was to have her retire and be a pet. We let her out to eat some fresh grass and enjoy life for a half hour and then silently and with love, she passed in peace, by my hand. I’ll miss my girl very much.

The last of the garden is finally in. I’m praying for a long, hot growing season with some nice evening showers! 🤞We ran cattle fence around 1/2 the garden for the peas and beans to grow on, saving a lot of space. I’m really happy with our layout this year. We’ll see how it goes when things start bushing out ☺️

Last night we tried the pork chops and tonight was the smoked ham. The pork chops were great but the ham is epic!!!! We also cracked one of the last jars of our garden beets with our dried dill and I used some fresh asparagus and butter on the pasta. A delicious, almost entirely farm, supper!

We have a new litter of bunnies, snow storms every other day, chokecherries sprouting from my discarded seeds from juicing last fall, the girls helped me go pick up grain and adjust the skidsteer forks to unload it, and my Magdalene has an injury on her neck (I suspect Mack the stallion) so she’s been separated and is recovering well.

My first attempt ever at home made pasta. I definitely learned somethings but I got through a double batch and we enjoyed it tonight topped with delicious fresh herbs and veges. I’ll be incorporating homemade pasta into my regular menu in the future!
