University of Bamenda student DrΓΌ gged, Chained, T@rtured and R@ped..
Police in Bamenda are investigating the case of a first-year student at the College of Technology (COLTECH) of the University of Bamenda who was allegedly drugged, chained, tortured, and r***d in Upstation.
The student, identified here as βSandrineβ to protect her identity, is receiving treatment for her injuries. According to family accounts, the 20-year-old was allegedly drugged, chained, tortured, had her head put in a flushing toilet, and r***d by multiple men in the Avenir area of Upstation, Sandrine told her elder sister.
Family members say Sandrine was convinced to travel from Bambili to Upstation on Saturday, May 23, by two acquaintances. They allege the two took her to a house where the assault occurred
On Tuesday morning, Sandrineβs elder sister said she received a call from one of the girls saying there was an issue and that she was coming to the family home. The sister said the friend usually visits the home. While on her way to work,the sister said she saw the two girls on a motorcycle with Sandrine seated between them. Speaking to Tebek TV, she said she initially thought it was a misunderstanding between friends they wanted her to resolve.
The group went to the family home, where they met Sandrineβs younger brother. The two girls told the family they had found Sandrine at Custom Junction behaving abnormally and decided to bring her home.
When Sandrineβs elder sister arrived, she questioned one of the girls, identified as Precious, about when she had last seen Sandrine. Precious said it was the previous Tuesday. The sister said she suspected the two girls knew what had happened. The girls responded that they had only helped her and asked if helping was a crime.
After the girls left, Sandrine accessed her younger sisterβs phone and found deleted messages and videos. She recovered a video from the trash folder that she said was recorded on Saturday at the scammersβ house with the friend who had lied she last saw her the previous Tuesday.
The family reported the case to police. One of the two girls has been arrested, and one of the alleged scammers has also been taken into custody after he had fled Avenir.
Sandrine remains hospitalized in critical condition. Family members say she is disoriented and behaving disoriented . Family members say said she received initial treatment at a health unit in Upstation were the drugs were flushed before being transferred to the regional hospital. She has since been moved to another health facility in Bamenda.
Police say investigations are ongoing and more arrests are possible.
