ANTIC Brings Farmers and Agritech Startups Together to Drive Cameroon’s Digital Agriculture Transformation

ANTIC has brought together some 14 Agritech startups and 100 farmers from across the South-West Region to explore how digital innovation can transform farming practices, boost productivity and improve agricultural yields.

The discussions are taking place within the framework of the Forum on Digital Agriculture, which commenced in Limbe on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, under the theme: “Harnessing Digital Technologies for Sustainable Agricultural Transformation and Food Security in Cameroon.”

Speaking at the opening, ANTIC’s Director General, Professor Ebot Ebot Enaw, entreated farmers to embrace digital technologies to address persistent challenges, including limited market access, pest management, inadequate farm management, the effects of climate change and post-harvest losses which the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates at 40 per cent for certain agricultural products in Cameroon. This situation is particularly concerning at a time when more than 2.8 million people in the country are estimated to be experiencing severe food insecurity.

Prof. Ebot Ebot Enaw stressed that digital technologies can help turn these challenges into opportunities for greater efficiency and productivity. He explained that solutions such as precision agriculture, smart livestock management, digital agricultural marketplaces, supply-chain digitisation, drone-enabled agricultural services and digital farm management systems can provide practical responses to some of the challenges affecting the sector.

According to him, the adoption of these technologies will enable farmers to make more informed decisions, optimise the use of agricultural inputs, improve farm management, detect and manage pests more effectively, reduce post-harvest losses, access markets more easily and ultimately increase their incomes. In particular, digital marketplaces and supply-chain solutions b

From Waste to Wealth.

From 3rd–7th August, Green Farmlands welcomed Smallholder Farmers, agripreneurs, students and agricultural enthusiasts for a hands-on journey into Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming.

This training was made possible through a collaboration with Esther Mottier-Gerber, under the Sister Farm project by Climate Bridges supporting practical learning and sustainable agricultural innovation.

Over five days, participants explored the biology and life cycle of BSF, visited our demonstration unit, incubated their own eggs, worked with 5-Day-Old Larvae (5DOL), and learned about feeding, pest management, harvesting and valuable BSF by-products such as frass and larvae.

We then moved beyond farming into markets, business models, budgeting and financial planning.

After evaluating participants knowledge before and after the training via evaluation questionnaires, we recorded a 44% gain in theoretical knowledge and a 63% gain in practical knowledge amongst the participants.

And they didn't leave with knowledge alone.

Participants received certificates and BSF Starter Kits to begin practising immediately.

The questions, teamwork, laughter and excitement throughout the week made it clear: practical knowledge can create confidence, and confidence can create opportunity.

To every participant who showed up ready to learn, thank you. And to Esther Mottier and Climate Bridges, thank you for helping make this experience possible.

The training may be over, but the journey is just beginning.
