Hug your favorite brewery while you can 🍻🖤
Brewer’s Art just closed, and I’m genuinely heartbroken.

I spent so much of my early twenties there drinking Resurrection, usually tucked away in the basement “dungeon” with stone walls and archways, dimly lit with candlelight flickering, sipping on beers with friends in the alcoves. Brewer’s Art opened in 1996 and focused on Belgian-inspired ales long before that was trendy.

Getting to tour the space later on made me love it even more. The brewery and restaurant lived inside a ~1904 townhouse, with a fireplace in every room and brewing equipment spread across nearly every level. Because of the central atrium, some of the auger tubing and knockout piping even runs outside for a stretch—historic rowhouse meets beer-engineering magic.

You will be missed Brewers Art 😭

Mentally I’m still drinking a beer on an abandoned ship in Costa Rica. 🇨🇷🌴🌊☀️

There aren’t many breweries out here—a few spots in Puerto Viejo pour Costa Rican craft beer, and even less when you get down to Manzanillo. It’s more about the enjoying the beach, and the jungle so a crisp Imperial will do. 🍻

📍 the Yicel in Manzanillo
An abandoned cargo ship that was intentionally beached after it was taking on water and sinking. It was full of lots of diesel and it took 11 days to clear the ship of the fuel.

how to do dry january and still support your favorite craft breweries:

🍻 you can still buy beer. just drink it in february. it’ll still be good.
🍻 buy beer to gift to a friend.
🍻 buy some merch while you’re at it.
🍻 enjoy their na options, hop water, thc bevs.
🍻 host your event or next meet up at your local brewery.
🍻 attend their events and participate.
🍻 sign up for their beer club memberships.
🍻 if they serve food go there for a meal.
🍻 recommend them to your friends and share them on social media. (in addition to the above things☝️)

small breweries are hit HARD this month. it’s possible to do dry january and still support your favorite breweries and tap rooms.

Sip, swirl, and get inspired at the 🍷Enjoying rosé, soaking in the art, and contemplating which donut I’d be if I were on this wall. 🍩✨ (the carpet donut was my fave)

Artist Block tasting room is a unique experience in Dundee, OR in the Willamette Valley. It was founded by artist Anna Sweet, and has Oregon’s first and only female Master of Wine, Bree Stock. If you’re lucky you might get to meet a couple of cool cats named Jean-Michel and Andy Warhol 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛. Thanks to this crew for a tour of their art studio paired with some exciting wine 🍇

If you’ve never been to during fresh hop season, let me tell you—it’s MAGICAL. 🌱🍻✨ Touring hop farms and the production warehouses during a harvest is like W***y Wonka’s Chocolate Factory for beer lovers (it also smells amazing). The is massive and everything and everyone is covered in hops. Highly recommend adding these experiences to your beer bucket list.

Yakima is a small town but don’t let that fool you into thinking there isn’t incredible beer, food, and so much to explore. There are stunning hikes within an hour of town with views of Mt Rainier. Ten photos in this post was not nearly enough to share our experience.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from my trip to RenoTahoe, but it honestly surprised me. What I thought might be just a casino town had SO much more—craft beer, local art, and beautiful nature all around. 🏔️ 🍻

Some highlights: I caught Flor de Toloache, an incredible all-women mariachi band 🇲🇽 at the Latin Festival, found some great q***r-owned spots 🌈, enjoyed cocktails in speakeasies 🍸, and made new friends at a beer festival 🍻. I also got to check out the Reno Tahoe International Art Show 🎨, and the art there was truly something else. And the hikes 🥾? Gorgeous.

Reno has way more to offer than meets the eye.
